They really have to build on this, first time this season I can really remember the last 2-3 mins of 1H going our way. Don’t let this go to waste!dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 8:56 pm Holy cow FINALLY finished a 1st half for once. Go steal this one!

We are on an 11-0 run to lead 34-33 at halftime. Our only lead was for the last 35 seconds. The announcer repeatedly said that W&M's largest lead was 9, but it was 10. Davis and Gabe Dorsey were the double-digit scorers with 11, and Dorsey did it without missing. Aranguren and DeCady have 4 rebounds, and they are our only players with a rebound. It must be rare for a team to be leading at halftime with only two players with a rebound. 21 players played, and 14 played at least 8 minutes. W&M committed 12 turnovers, including 5 in the last 2:50, during which time they did not score.
Five of the six CAA games in progress have a halftime margin of 5 or fewer points. UNCW leads 46-35 hosting Charleston.

Not happy to say it, but he's more a negative out there than a positive.triplec2195 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:00 pmI couldn’t believe it myself and he had just missed another open 3.

Need Aranguren to get going. Role players missing lots of good looks, Cruz can't win this singlehandedly.
Also, is "Her-mahn" Plotnikov German's Spanish cousin? This W&M broadcast is something

We'd be winning this game by at least 5 points if we could make a layup. That German 3 with 8:20 left was the first and so far only FG by anyone other than Cruz in the 2nd half

Speedy sound asleep. Gotta take a f&$ing timeout and get Cruz back in the game there for that possession crossing 2 minutes. Might have cost them the game
Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
Well that’s another awful way to end one

What is the deal with Graham? No PT? Why?

Heartbreaking. Brutal no call on Aranguren getting thrown out of the way on the go ahead layup. But...
- Once again a horrific final play call drawn up out of a timeout
- A TON of missed layups and decent looks from 3
- 3 horrific defensive lapses to give up wide open 3s early in the game
This team isn't good enough to overcome the little mistakes. Really could have been like an 8-5 group right now instead of this disaster. What a shame

Was wondering that too.. where was he?
Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
Mistakes aside that was an obvious offensive foul, and not a kicked ball just a couple possessions before

Horrible matchup for the bigs with the way W&M spaces with 5 shooters. DeCady can extend defensively out to the 3 pt line the best of the bunch. But no Graham at all probably too much of an overreaction
The coaching staff over-corrected the mistake of playing Sunday against W&M the first time
Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
We went with an athletic group in the second half and we shut down W&M. Problem is this group can’t score. What was Gadsden’s shooting percentage.
Going forward I like us using this athletic group and taking our chances.

One of the most frustrating Hofstra seasons in many years. They simply can't close and that's the difference between fighting for the top four and being in the bottom four.
They should have had road wins at Towson (up 18), Drexel (up 12), and tonight (needed one more stop) and home wins against Campbell (up 18) and Stony Brook (up 8 with under 8 left). They should be the opposite (9-4) of the 4-9 they are right now. I don't know, maybe that makes them dangerous early in the tournament because they're better than their record suggests, but with the position they're putting themselves in, they're not winning four in four days.
As stated by others, four minutes for Graham made no sense.
They took eight more shots than W&M but made only one more.
No one really did much offensively other than Davis. Really tough going to win a road game like that with one guy in double figures (W&M at least had two).
Gadsden can't take more shots that Aranguren but he did. You HAVE to get your top two guys the most shots. They had to find a way to make Jean a bigger part of the offense tonight to help Davis out but they didn't.
This is now officially the first time they failed to have a winning season in conference play in eight years. One more loss and it'll be their first losing season on CAA play since the same season (even in the Covid season they were 8-6 in CAA play). And that happens the year they finally join the crowd and debut the black uniforms instead of staying true to their school colors. Karma. They are now in 12th place by themselves, a game behind three other teams. Obviously, not at all where they should be with five games left.

Don't want this to get lost with the way the game ended. Speedy not getting Cruz back in the game down 1 with 2:20 left was an inexcusable coaching failure. The kids were clearly gassed too, needed the timeout to catch their breath.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:56 pm Speedy sound asleep. Lowe ran right past Jean for a layup on the other end after they wasted the possession without Cruz which put W&M back up 3 with 1:35 left.
The team may make waaay to many careless mistakes, they may not be mentally tough enough to win close games, but the coaching has seriously let them down too

Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
Obvious why Graham didn't get minutes in this game and it was a good strategy to keep him on the bench and let DeCady play 31 minutes. Josh had a heck of a game defensively and kept them from going crazy beyond the arc. Everyone of their players were shooting three's except for Lowe. Our bigs played 16 minutes in the game at HU THIS GAME 5. All good points made about a lot of things costing us this game I think more then anything else was missing easy shots up close. So I thought it was interesting talking about Graham is how he started this game then was benched after W&M hit a few three's in the early going but I don't remember as a matter of protocol not having the same guys that started the game not starting the second half. DeCady started for Graham in the second half. I don't recall this happening in our games in recent memory. Am I wrong about this??
Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
I don't care what anyone says but those black uniforms are AWFUL! Watching the telecast you can't read anyone's numbers! Bad enough we don't have the players' names on their back in this NIL era but at least give us uniforms that we can see numbers!
Re: MBB Game 26 Thu, Feb 13 @William & Mary 7 PM
Awful. I took pride (pun intended) that Hofstra was one of the last holdouts but it's sad to see that they've joined the crowd with this. Of course, that was inevitable when they signed with Nike because Nike ruins everything. It all started with Nike founder Phil Night and Oregon and just got progressively worse in college and pro sports. I said the same about the numbers when they debuted them at home. Blue on black when they could've at least done yellow on black? The shorts just plain all black, no blue, yellow or white lines at all on the sides? HOFSTRA on the back where the players names should be and a small Hofstra logo on the front instead of HOFSTRA on the front? Such lack of imagination. But worst of all, if you're Providence, Iowa, yeah, wear black. It's one of your primary colors. Has Hofstra ever had at any point had black as part of their school colors?
How do people get paid to design this stuff? It's like they get paid for intentionally coming up with the worst, most lazy designs they can and as bad a job as Nike did with these Hofstra uniforms, they're far from the worst with what Nike has done with many other teams, college and pro. I think the worst I've seen is Iowa State in football, with very good red and yellow school colors, wearing black helmets, black jerseys, black pants, black socks, and only white letters and numbers, not even a hint of red or yellow anywhere.
I miss the days when tradition and school colors meant something (I also miss when NHL home and road teams were the reverse of what they are now and when we knew what NBA teams would wear home and away rather than that varying every game). Don't get me started on the different NBA courts, too. Sports used to be way more aesthetically pleasing to watch in person and on TV than they are today.
This is not complicated. For Hofstra, blue and yellow are great colors. Use them. Hofstra has great yellow alternates. Wear them. Stop trying way too hard and screwing it up! Would love to see Hofstra use someone other than Nike but I imagine they have may still have a long-term deal with them (unfortunately).
I know I've said way too much for a post about uniforms (and probably care far more than I should about this topic) but it's something that has always bugged in sports in general since Nike started this nonsense, and I'm sad to see that it finally reached my alma mater (sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now).
