Guys you take this Newsday coverage so personal. It is a dying business. Just ignore it. I can't even remember the last time I even picked up a Newsday.
Check out the Hofstra basketball twitter account where they posted a picture showing all the media members tweeting about Hofstra's win. That is the future and we are getting coverage on it.

Seton Hall could not knockout the contender - Hofstra.Cards wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 1:05 pm A slow, ugly, and boring first half thankfully gave way to some excitement in the second half.
Love the energy on defense - some coverage mistakes here and there, but all in all the D was solid.
I think this team will be making some noise this year, as well as next year with most of these guys returning.
I thought last night - and for the most part the first three games - our bigs - Graham and Sunday - played well. I like - not perfect - their protection of the rim; them laying out on the floor for loose balls and just their overall play.
Our new - three head monster - The SAD SACK ("S"anders "A"ranguren "D"avis) - are tough - sometimes, hard to believe in this day and age - they over pass instead of launching it up - they go to th hope and overall like what we got with these three
Gadsden - moves well - has a nice stroke - but to date has yetto find his groove
A really nice DUB for The U

Yes, you have to admire their grit and determination so far. Could have folded in both games but toughed it out. Hope this holds. Need more from the bench but so far so good.

The game probably did not look good on TV, but I thought it was a well played game for both teams this early in the year. Shots just were not easy to come by, only 58 possessions in the game. That's a Carril-era Princeton game amount. Felt like like a city game from the Speedy/Halloway era.
Re: MBB Game 3 Seton Hall, Nov. 13 (Wed) 8 PM
Since you mentioned the low number of possessions, Seton Hall actually shot well in the second half (47.1%) and way better than in the first half, yet still made one more FG in the first half than in the second half because of the very low possession and shot totals in the second half. I was surprised to see how few shots they got off in the second half. They were 9/31 in the first half, 8/17 in the second. Also helped a lot that they went 5/13 at the line in the second half after going 3/4 from there in the first half (also a bit ironic because that's 8/17 FT for the game, which equaled their 8/17 second-half FG).Flying Dutchmen wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 11:37 pm The game probably did not look good on TV, but I thought it was a well played game for both teams this early in the year. I rarely look at the "PAPER" I get their e-sports section and the e-version of the paper...still it galls me to see how they're up Pitino's and St Johns' butt with nothing for us.HofstraMathew wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 3:08 pm Guys you take this Newsday coverage so personal. Their former headquarters is an amazon warehouse now and more people would probably read an article about Hofstra basketball in the Hofstra Chronicle than Newsday. I get it that it was the premier paper for Long Island even as recent as 15 or so years ago but it is a dying industry. Let it go and focus on the attention we are getting from the new media.HUSID74 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:09 amI rarely look at the "PAPER" I get their e-sports section and the e-version of the paper...still it galls me to see how they're up Pitino's and St Johns' butt with nothing for us.HofstraMathew wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 3:08 pm Guys you take this Newsday coverage so personal. I read Newsday online. They give so much attention to St. John's you would think the Red Storm is the third NBA team in NYC. There's even a clickable St. John's icon on Newsday's main sports page:

Nice OT win for Seton Hall tonight down in Charleston over a VCU team that was was ranked 34th on kenpom. Should be a good little bump for their ranking, which in turn can obviously only help ours too
Re: MBB Game 3 Seton Hall, Nov. 13 (Wed) 8 PM
Watched alot of that game. Seton Hall played them tough in a good atmosphere...this will only help our ranking if they continue to win.
Re: MBB Game 3 Seton Hall, Nov. 13 (Wed) 8 PM
That arena capacity is 5,100.
The Mack is 5,023 for basketball when all sections are opened up.
Charleston keeps hosting this tournament every November.
Why can't Hofstra host its own annual November tournament whether (as has been said for years) with other local teams or whoever else?
And, of course, there's also the Coliseum across the street for that.

Seton Hall just got handled at home by 0-8 Monmouth. Monmouth was better than their record, but any and all credibility from our win over Seton Hall is now out the window. And the umass win looks less impressive with every game umass has played since as well sadly
Re: MBB Game 3 Seton Hall, Nov. 13 (Wed) 8 PM
None of it really matters much. In a typically "That's so CAA" sequence of games, Elon lost by 13 to Maine one game after winning at Notre Dame.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:02 pm Seton Hall just got handled at home by 0-8 Monmouth. CAA play will reveal a lot more than games in November and December will, and since no one in the CAA is getting an at-large anyway, who beat who in the first two months and what those wins will look like later on mean very little.
