Nice win. Is Iona decent? I assume not if we scrubbed them like this.

It is their 2nd year old D1 lacrosse. They have 2 assistants with Hofstra roots: Brendan Kavanaugh and Gerard Kane. They looked much more cohesive than last year. I am sure they are committed to becoming a real team.

Thx Jojo, one game at a time, great to start with a win. Looks like a nice offensive explosion in the second and some halftime adjustments to produce it while tightening the defense.

It is so wild to me that it’s lax season - so early for this sport, full on winter across the country lol - but looking for a solid program turnaround this season, so let it begin!

We will see how this season pans out. I’m not going to say anything until we get some games under our belt. Let’s also not get too excited about beating an Iona team. Second year of D1 lacrosse lol. Like really. We should’ve rocked this team 20-5 at the bare minimum.

I’ll be positive and hopeful for this team but I still know that Tierney isn’t the answer. Ready for him to be gone

So we lose to Holy Cross 9 - 8 in 2OT. Tierney's legacy continues. I mean, when is enough going to be enough with this guy.

Exactly. There we go. SO MANY no name teams have just surpassed Hofstra by miles. I think everyone on this board has had it by now too. No one here likes tierney or thinks he’s the guy. He’s ruined this program. I wouldn’t be surprised if schools like farmingdale state or some Long Island high school teams could compete with Hofstra. Just embarrassing.

Let’s focus on basketball. We should probably just cut lacrosse at this point. Save the money for bball

To all the people who post messages on this board #IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING# We are all upset about the current state of the Hofstra lacrosse program. Tierney came in and ruined a great program and Cole watched this happen under his guidance...They may have brought in some quality newcomers but do not let this fool you, a leopard does not change its spots..the program will continue to struggle into the future with the current people running it...my suggestion is for everyone to send Tierney and Cole an email expressing our disappointment with the current state of Hofstra lacrosse and demanding a positive change as we head into the future Thank you !!

Mama mia... friggin ST strikes again! And here I've been trying to speak some hope into this lifeless program lol

Alas, I'm not done with them yet - terrible loss of course, but at least a double OT one - HU has been sadly blown out by clubs like this during ST's tenure, so perhaps this is the team finding itself.

I'm going to give them a few more here to see if my prayer of a hopeful season is still within reason. There is some talent on this team. Ideally they can find ways to win in spite of ST'. Hate this saying, but 'it's early', let's see - they'll have some opportunities to show their mettle soon - I want to see how they stack up the next 4... Siena and Rutgers are solid.

Last year they were 11-5
They lost the Boston university last year9-7
This year in the first game, they lost the Boston university23-7
This is the game we should absolutely win

Let’s all relax. I get it, no one likes to lose and everyone wants to win every game in every sport, but that’s not going to happen.

In MLAX, the CAA is a one-bid league. In the grand scheme of things, this game means nothing. Let’s learn what we can from this game and get ready for league play.

This board is a rerun of Groundhog Day. The posts every year of ST's last ten are often the same or similar. Its become comical. Wait 'til next year.

A lot of fans here have become super complacent with starting to accept this garbage. How sad is it that we get excited over a win against basically a brand new lacrosse program and brush it off losing to holy cross. This just goes to show you how far this program has dropped. 15 years ago this was different and look where we are at now. PATHETIC

Oh it's brutal Pbdutch - this past decade has been a complete and total disgrace. And HU hasn't done a damn thing to address. NOTHING. It's sad.

But here we are. I'm trying to find a shred of hope for a season where I do think there's actual talent on the roster, and the schedule is easy street. Beyond embarrassing that an OT loss to some low level program is somehow a positive... but here we are lol.

I'm trying to keep some ray of hope for once lol. I mean if ST can't win playing near HS level programs with a team with talent, then I don't know what to say that I haven't said for 10 yrs. I've killed this topic ad nauseam lol... I've basically accepted it's a waste of time, nothing will change, and it isn't worth my energy. I now refuse to care about things more than HU does itself. I'm going to match their effort, and my money and support will match it as well.

So basically for mens lax I'm down to the complete useless non-strategy of 'I hope they win this year'. :?

I remember a time where Hofstra Mens Lacrosse GAME threads would be longer than the season long threads are now.

There's no secrets here, its not hard to see ST has completely destroyed this program and will likely never return to the level it was when he walked in the door. Not with him, and not when we are lucky enough to be rid of him.

Most of us knew he was nowhere near Danowski level that first 5 to 10 seasons he was here BUT at least he kept a competitive schedule and had a respectable record. These last 10 seasons have simply been disgusting when compared to what Hofstra was the 20+ years earlier.

Seth's record 2007 through April 22 2017 96-56
Seth's record since then 49-62

49-62!!!! With horrific level schedules. Theres really not many levels below to get to. Its pretty much nuked at this point.

Good post Uncle Vegas. Many if not a majority of those 56 and 62 losses were by one goal. Not sure what that means but i remember it catching my attention.

The last time any Hofstra sports coach was terminated was 2014, when the tennis coach was removed for sexual harassment. If I am a betting man, I venture to speculate that we will be saying adieu to ST at his retirement dinner.

stuball - Siena is not strong this year? Maybe not, but they are running Hofstra off the field right now. 8-2 at the half. The program has gone from bad to embarrassing. Cole has fiddled while Tierney and his benefactor at the Whitmore Group have run this program into the ground.

I’m so sick of this garbage and embarrassment I’ve witnessed. They either fire Tierney or just cut the program at this point. I’m being serious too. If they don’t fire this guy I’m out and will not be sending any more money to the athletic department period. Either get a new coach to give us some sort of hope or cut the program to save money and invest into our bball or other meaningful teams. I’m calling Rick on Monday
