Men's Lacrosse 2026

Post by Jojogunne »

We have a very strong freshman class coming in, headed by this guy and several of his club teammates:

We'll get our first look at our MLAX team tomorrow when we host the annual Nick Colleluori HEADstrong Tournament, which raises funds for cancer patients. Nick, a former Hofstra player, created the HEADstrong Found before he died from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006:

Hofstra will face LIU at 9:30 am and Brown at 4:30 pm. In between, Iona and NJIT will also play:

We led 8-2 at the half and finished about 10-5 or so vs. LIU. Mostly players who were on the roster last year. Soph G Daniel Dorszewski played the whole game and did very well. He stopped a number of point-blank shots and cleared the ball quickly. He's also tall (6-6).

Our men are hosting Navy tomorrow (10/11) at 2 pm. This is a change from Sunday due to the nor'easter that is expected.

Sit down folks. I and many others have correctly berated this program for being a complete and total embarrassment the last decade. And it deserved every bit of it.

BUT dare I say I see opportunity on the horizon. Mens lax IMO is on the rise this coming season. They actually didn’t totally suck last year, and I do believe they may have even more life this coming spring. Lot of talent in the youth (Varona, Kennedy, Bogardus), plus a Sr stud in Natalie, and a very strong class coming in, especially the ‘Colorado Crew’ highlighted by a legacy Langtry. Good to see HU tapping into the CO talent pool, and perhaps ST is getting lucky stepping in it due to HU family history.

This team can, and actually should, be quite good. As much as I've been done with him, I’d of course still love to see ST return this program to glory before he rides off into the sunset - which frankly I still hope is soon lol.

2026 may be the most exciting lax season we've had in years - bullish on a big year and a return to at least some version of the former HU glory!

I hope you are right Polito and no doubt last year was a decent stepping stone to finally make it back to CAAs. Wildcard of course is CAA schedule is always up for grabs with every team but Hampton a tough game so won't be easy.

Lax schedule is up. Seems a little disappointing to me. Yale and Rutgers seem to be the highlights. Holy Cross and UMBC are new to schedule.

The schedule is just about right you have a very young team with a lot of freshman coming in
Need to have the schedule, not too tough but not exactly cupcakes so the SOS of the schedule it's just about right for the experience we have on this team
Next year, expect it to be a little tougher

Just read an article I go Hofstra
Seth has named five players as co-captains
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but they are all finance majors

Not surprising. Hofstra has a strong reputation in the lacrosse community as a school for business majors. We're one of the closest lacrosse schools to NYC, and have a growing network of lacrosse alumni (men and women) working in banking, investing and insurance. Looking quickly at our current roster, about 80% of our men are business majors. Half of these are finance majors.

Frankly the Lax schedule has been mid for awhile - and they still stunk so lol... I think for right now we need to embrace a much less exciting matchups for a little while to hopefully get this program on the winning track consistently - this program has not yet proved it can hang with any big boys like the old days... but they can start this year by winning the CAA and playing in the NCAAT again - time to crawl their way back up

Congratulations to M Trevor Natalie on being named an honorable mention All-American by USA Lacrosse. He joins two other CAA players on the list of 81: Towson A Mikey Weisshaar (second team) and Fairfield D Julian Radossich (HM):

So today’s game versus Iona has been moved to Monday 1 PM at Iona. Shuart Stadium has been getting new turf, but last week’s blizzard upset the schedule.

Looks like there may be free streaming via Iona Insider.
