This is a good opp for a W for HU. Davis is a baller and will make this a battle, but they don't have much else, so HU can and absolutely should win this on their home floor.

Northeastern led by 11 at halftime and won 66-56 hosting Detroit, so we did 4 points better than Northeastern hosting the same team.

Just based on the score along it certainly appears that D wasn't optional. It wasn't a three point party like in Hempstead.EvanJ wrote:Northeastern led by 11 at halftime and won 66-56 hosting Detroit, so we did 4 points better than Northeastern hosting the same team.

Might as well mention that Delaware beat LIU by 8 and Kante had 17 points and 9 boards in the loss. Painter had 11 points and 6 boards. Kante also took a three in that game and missed it!!

Anyone know when the NCAA starts posting the NET rankings?? Do they typically wait until conference play begins?
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
I don't know the date. I searched the forum for last season and stuball posted the NET on January 28, but it must have debuted earlier.

NET ratings have been released -- Hofstra is 91st.
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
That's great. KenPom and CBS predicted the top CAA team to be in the 101 to 150 range (I'm not checking exactly).
The NCAA praised Wagner for a win at Stony Brook. Stony Brook was picked first, but I don't think winning at Stony Brook will sound impressive to many people who read the article. Wagner is 23rd, and is the top team in New York state. Monmouth is 41st. Arkansas is 44th, which is bad for an undefeated team. Iona in 60 and St. Bonaventure in 88th are the other New York teams above us.

Monmouth led 36-19 at halftime and held on to win 56-52 at Pitttsburgh. Pittsburgh is horrible by ACC standards. They're 3-7 including 3-5 at home, and they are 2-0 against the CAA. They beat UNCW (3-5), Towson (7-4), and Colgate (4-7).

Elon lost by 26 last night to Arkansas and Delaware also lost to Iona by 11. All a bit interesting as we start to look ahead to our CAA opponents.

Houston has leading scorer Marcus Sasser (17.4 points) and fourth leading scorer Tramon Mark (10.1 points) out for the season.
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis is doing something that I'm guessing has never happened. His points per game decreased from freshman to sophomore, sophomore to junior, and junior to senior, and he leads this season with 23.3 points.

Anyone see Arkansas took down #1 Auburn yesterday?

Joe look under the thread Arkansas
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
Houston lost 85-83 at SMU. Houston is Number 6 in the AP Poll. Before tonight, they had 2 losses and were 9-0 in the American (AAC). That leaves six teams undefeated in their conference, and four of them did not get votes in either poll.
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
Number 6 Houston doubled their losses this week as they lost 69-59 hosting Memphis, who improved to 14-8. Houston ended their 37 game home winning streak, which was the second longest active home winning streak. It was their first home loss since 2019.
Re: Men's Basketball Nonconference Opponents' Results
Arkansas won 75-73 hosting Number 6 Kentucky.
