Mens Basketball 2015-2016 predictions

Post by stuball888 »

Thought I would post this now. Here is my prediction 25 wins and a CAA championship. It could go to 27 wins depending on how well this team jells, health of the team and how well we play defense. Whu only 25 wins depends on how tough our OOC will be.Last year it was a cupcake OOC for the most part. :

All for this thread, although I do need to see the schedule before making my predictions

I will say definitively that there is only one goal that matters this year:

WIN THE CAA and GET TO THE DANCE.

Goal would be to win the CAA for sure but who did we really add that would make this team much better.

We lost an experienced guard and an athletic f/c.

Felt I needed to take the contrarian view among all you cool-aid drinkers.

How can we make any predictions without a full schedule? Yes we know what the CAA is all about but predicting the number of wins is crazy!!!!
I'll go out on a limb and predict we make the CAA finals...How's that?

Which is even more reason why they should make the finals this year!

College Sports Madness has us at #106 in their top 144, and 2nd in the CAA. JMU was 123 and 3rd in the conference.

glad they are not picked 1st - after finishing 5th, they need to go out there and earn every single bit of it - gotta grind to shine

Be interesting to see who the most improved player on this years team will be...any predictions...even a guy like Green can improve a lot by making more of his shots [hampered by wrist injury last season??] and playing a lot better defense

I'm leaning towards Rokas for most improved. Between playing as a freshman (obviously a little nervous and rushing shots) and being injured for most of the season I think he will have a breakout season. With the more senior guys already being experienced, I think Rokas simply has a lot of room to grow.

I'm also hoping that Walker has improved. Yes he will likely play behind Rokas, but when Rokas is not in the game, Andre should be in there. Like Rokas, Arndre has a lot of room to grow.

As you say garyg, they all can improve (and hopefully do), but I think Rokas's improvment will have the most impact.

Any starting 5 predictions? I'm almost thinking that with the height we have this year, there might not be a set 5, it could depend on the game. My early predictions are Green, Tanksley, Bernardi, Gustys, and either Djambo or Koon. Nichols did better coming off the bench last season, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he started a few games.

Agree completely PoP

Cactus - regarding schedule. I think our OCC has 11 games (not counting Molloy). I'm going with 8-3. We play 6 good teams and 5 mediocre teams. 3-3 against the better teams is reasonable (Florida St, either DePaul or South Carolina, either Ohio, Tulsa, Ind St, or Norfolk, and then St. Bonav, LaSalle, Stony Brook). We must win (5-0) against Canisius, App State, Siena, FAU, and Sacred Heart.

13-5 for league play is reasonable.

With conf championsip games (hopefully 3-0) we get to 24 Wins before true tournament play.

Of course injuries and other unknowns could derail any of this.

My prediction for the starting five would he Green, Bernardi, Tanksley, Koon, Gustys. I'd really like to see Rokas and Djambo play at the same time so if Koon doesn't pan out then move rokas down to the 4 and have a legit 4 and 5 instead of one big like last year. Also if Bernardi isn't shooting well I'd hope nichols would then be put in quickly. Really big on him. I'd consider him our best defender.

Aree with that starting 5 HF101, I see Koon being targeted to start and get MAJOR PT - think he has the potential to cause a lot of mismatches in HUs favor

Utilize Djambo, Nichols, and Walker for spot play/certain match ups to spell him and Gustys

Same deal with Buie and Wright-Foreman with the guards - get them some experience in certain spots while also resting key guys whenever you can
