Three Consecutive Outright Players of the Week: Very Rare

Post by EvanJ »

Kante won Player of the Week. We are the first team to get three consecutive outright players of the week since JMU's Louis Rowe on January 2 and 9, 1995 and Kent Culuko on January 16, 1995. https://static.caasports.com/custompage ... 0mbask.pdf has Weekly Awards for 36 seasons including this one, and we're the third team to do that. Before JMU, Navy did it with Cliff Rees on January 6, 1987, and David Robinson the next two weeks. Some of the Weekly Awards in 1998-1999 are missing, but it's unlikely that any team won three in a row. It used to be easier for a team to get three in a row because the CAA had fewer than 10 teams before we joined, and co-Players of the Week used to be rare. There were co-Players of the Week twice in the first thirteen seasons combined.

I could see Cramer or Burgess sneaking in there at some point... both have the ability to do a lot in a game / series - but even if not, kudos to those 3 - keep it up, what matters in the end is cutting nets baby!

The CAA says "Hofstra is the first CAA program to have three different players of the week since William & Mary in the 2017-18 season (David Cohn, Connor Burchfield, Nathan Knight)."

Agree both - have the ability to catch lightening in a bottle - and put together a weekend worthy of POW honors

When you have 5 starters that play 30 plus minutes a game you have the potential of having 5 consecutive players of the week because playing 30 plus minutes a game you can rack up the points

True you have the opportunity based on minutes but you still need to produce. Kudos to the players and the staff who are a big part of utilizing the talent that we have.
