MBB Game 31 Sat, Mar 1 vs NC A&T 2 PM -- Final Regular-Season Game
MBB Game 31 Sat, Mar 1 vs NC A&T 2 PM -- Final Regular-Season Game
We wrap up the regular season by hosting North Carolina A&T (5-22, 1-13).
The Aggies' lone CAA win was a 1-point decision at Elon.
Ironically, NC A&T has two of the top three scorers in the conference:
1 Abdi Bashir Jr. (Monmouth) 20.2 ppg
2 Ryan Forrest (NC A&T) 19.1 ppg
3 Landon Glasper (NC A&T) 18.5 ppg
As for "Senior" Day, this may be the last time we see TJ Gadsden (SR), Michael Graham (GR) and German Plotnikov (SR) on the Mack Arena court. There is a chance one or more could return under a new "5-in-5" rule that the NCAA is considering:

It's actually one of the craziest things in college basketball to be 1-13 in a league with that league's 2nd and 3rd leading scorers, along with two other scorers averaging double figures.Jojogunne wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 7:12 pm We wrap up the regular season by hosting North Carolina A&T (5-22, 1-13).

Forrest and Glasper were both suspended indefinitely in late Jan and as of yet have not returned to the team. A&T is a caught up in a potential gambling scandal, though the players' suspensions haven't officially been linked to that investigation fwiw.

Yes (and Julius Reese, who hardly played, was also suspended for the same), but they were already 0-9 in the CAA before Glasper and Forrest were suspended, which was still crazy for a team with the 2nd and 3rd scorers in a league. However, they've also had a lot of games like their last one (an 89-74 loss at Stony Brook), in which Glasper and Forrest went off (29 pts and 28 pts), but no one else did anything and as a team they didn't play D.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 2:55 am Forrest and Glasper were both suspended indefinitely in late Jan and as of yet have not returned to the team. But it's even stranger that after a blowout loss to UNCW in their first game without Glasper and Forrest, they've actually played better (with two very close losses and their only CAA win, along with a 10-point loss last time out) over their last four games, especially playing just six guys in those games.
Glasper is hitting the portal so he's done with NC A&T regardless and will go elsewhere (assuming he's not in some trouble with the investigation and can play elsewhere).
Re: MBB Game 31 Sat, Mar 1 vs NC A&T 2 PM -- Final Regular-Season Game
After Saturday February 22, Glasper and Forrest will not have played in 75 percent of their team's games, so they will stop qualifying, which will move Ante Brzovic or Rashad King up to second in scoring unless somebody behind them scores something like 70 points in two games. Aranguren is 12th, so if he does not get passed by anybody in the next two games, he will move up to the top ten.

Who do we want back next year? Start from scratch? Try to keep Arunguren and Davis? Thought?

The game was moved up from 4:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. without our website or the CAA saying why. The CAA has three games at 2:00 P.M., one at 4:00 P.M., two at 6:00 P.M. including Elon at Stony Brook on CBS Sports Network, and one at 7:00 P.M. The last game is Delaware at UNCW, and it will be meaningless if we win.

I attached a screen shot from the CAA from four days ago.
The nearest team to me is Omaha, who has never played in the NCAA Tournament, and can clinch a 1 seed with a win while we play. I can't watch them because the Summit League uses a paid website other than ESPN Plus and Flo.

ESPN has us as 10.5 pt favs and gives us an 83.7 % chance of winning. If only their season predictions were true!

Have to throw Sunday into this mix as he has grown some as a player but 7 footers are tough to find and he has some experience as much as we love to hate him at times.

Only 162 total points among three teams in the last 60 minutes of Hofstra Basketball (after Thursday's 59-56 loss).

First time I've tried to watch us closely since the Hampton debacle... it's startling how little confidence all these kids have left. Feels like every possession is pass up a good shot, but think so long about whether to shoot or not the proverbial "great shot" is long gone by the time the ball gets swung around
