MBB Game 23 Sat, Feb 1 @Campbell 1 PM
For the first time in recent memory, we are playing the same opponent a week later during the regular season. I know this has happened at the end of the season, when you finish with one team and face them a week later in the playoffs, but I can't recall this occurring in the regular season.
FloCollege will carry the game.

This actually happened last year and three years ago, almost on the same dates:Jojogunne wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:21 am For the first time in recent memory, we are playing the same opponent a week later during the regular season. Tue 2/15/22 @ Elon (won by 33; Silverio's 40-pt game)
Sat 2/19/22 vs. Northeastern
Thu 2/24/22 vs. Elon (lost by 26)
Thu 2/15/24 @ Drexel
Sat 2/17/24 vs. Northeastern
Thu 2/22/24 vs. Drexel
And, of course, in the 2020-21 Covid season, everyone would play the same team two days in a row, every week.

Campbell up 54-21 on W&M in the 2nd half tonight, Tribe shooting 5-32. We may have created a monster
Edit: They only won by a mere 41 points. Let's hope Campbell can't do that again

Need to rebound against the Camels. Time to show up to their place and steal one!
Re: MBB Game 23 Sat, Feb 1 @Campbell 1 PM
What happened to W&M? Campbell walloped them by 41 points!

https://gohofstra.com/news/2025/1/31/me ... pbell.aspx is our preview titled "Pride Concludes Southern Swing At Campbell."
https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/side ... game23.pdf is our Game Notes.
Campbell says it was their largest home win against a Division I team.
Graham is up to second in the CAA and 46th in Division I with 8.59 rebounds.
NC A&T is likely to go 0-18 in the CAA. They gave an indefinite suspension to their top two scorers and one other player who combined to score 49 percent of their points before their suspension started yesterday. Ryan Forrest (second with 19.14) and Landon Glasper (third with 18.48, albeit shooting .332) were two of the CAA's top three scorers in all games, and if they do not player for the rest of the season, they will not play in 75 percent of their team's games to qualify. That would make it easier for Aranguren (13th) and/or Davis (14th) to finish in the top ten. Yesterday they used two subs who totaled 28 minutes. Senior Day hosting them should be easy.

ESPN's Gamecast gives us a 44.1 percent chance of taking down the Camels.

Triplec that is crazy yet it has happened several times this year on Gamecast. Maybe they know something we don't!

Yeah what they know is that we're a better team now we have to play like it. The percentages that ESPN use are often wrong way wrong they need to change the batteries on their crystal ball!HUSID74 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:09 amTriplec that is crazy yet it has happened several times this year on Gamecast. https://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/202 ... pbell.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Campbell." Jerry cited me by saying:
"WE’RE NUMBER ONE (at stopping number two)
No potty humor here! As Loyal Reader EvanJ noted, the Dutchmen lead the nation in opponents two-point field goal percentage at a stingy 40.9 percent, just ahead of Duke (41 percent). A CAA team has not ranked amongst the top 20 nationally in opponents two-point field goal percentage since Charleston was 17th at 43.4 percent during the 2013-14 season."
Our seven two-pointers allowed to Elon were the fewest we allowed since UNCW made 5 when they won 57-51 at us on January 26, 2013, which was 390 games ago.
Aranguren became our first player since at least 1994-1995 to have three games in a season with at least 10 points, at least 10 rebounds, and at least 5 assists.
Campbell's 41 point win on Thursday was the largest in a CAA game since we beat W&M 94-46 in the CAA Quarterfinals on March 5, 2023, and the largest in a CAA regular season game since we won 91-46 hosting Delaware on December 28, 2018.
Since trailing us 34-18, Campbell outscored us at W&M 147-88.
ESPN's percentages are based on their model. The line is not made by ESPN. KenPom expects Campbell to win 62-61 with a 53 percent chance of winning.
https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=546025 has statistics. We are starting Gadsden, Farmer, Davis, Aranguren, and Graham, so Plotnikov is not back. Campbell is starting Elijah Walsh (guard, 1.8 points), Cam Gregory (guard, 8.1 points), Jasin Sinani (guard, 13.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists), Nolan Dorsey (guard, 8.8 points, 6.0 rebounds), and Colby Duggan (forward, 14.1 points). They average 71.4 points compared to our 68.0, 32.2 rebounds compared to our 36.2, and 13.6 assists compared to our 13.8. Campbell's steals are over two-thirds of their turnovers. The percent of turnovers that are steals is low enough that that is a great ratio. Our steals are under half of our turnovers.
https://gocamels.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats has Campbell's statistics. They used fifteen players, and twelve played in at least half of their games, which must be one of the highest amounts in the country.

Well at least we won't have a giant first half lead to blow for once. Really flat start, Campbell playing at a completely different gear right now. Disappointing to say the least

So let's run the offense through Sunday, play Sanders again so he can air ball 3s, and not play DeCady at all. What is this coaching staff doing?!
Re: MBB Game 23 Sat, Feb 1 @Campbell 1 PM
All of these things are mind bogglingdutchPride86 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:29 pm So let's run the offense through Sunday, play Sanders again so he can air ball 3s, and not play DeCady at all. What is this coaching staff doing?!
Re: MBB Game 23 Sat, Feb 1 @Campbell 1 PM
We’ve missed the rim entirely on 4 threes so far…
Re: MBB Game 23 Sat, Feb 1 @Campbell 1 PM
I am finding this coaching staff to more and more out to lunch than i ever imagined. What are they doing?

Speedy standing there with his arms crossed while Robinson gets a 5 second call, doubles for no reason to give up an open 3, then air balls a 3 of his own (3 air balls from Sanders and Robinson combined if were keeping score). All while Sunday gets caught in the paint giving Campbell another open 3. And DeCady can't get off the bench.
ITS ON YOU SPEEDY WAKE THE HELL UP AND COACH
