UMass to the MAC/Charleston to the A10?
UMass to the MAC/Charleston to the A10?
It's no secret that Charleston has wanted to join the A10.
That was on the way to happening anyway, but as of today, that may be even more realistic now that UMass is headed to the MAC for all sports in 2025-26.

Umass LEAVING A10
Pretty major conference realignment news... Umass is leaving the A10 for the MAC in ALL sports for the '25-'26 season. Once again football rules all, this is obviously a big step down for that school for other sports, especially basketball.

So, that means there is officially about to be an opening in the A10. This should be a 5-alarm fire all hands on deck push from Hofstra to make it happen, but will it be?!
Of course A10 has always been the ultimate dream as a Hofstra fan, but from the A10's perspective why on earth would they want hofstra? They already have one school in the NY market with no buzz and poor attendance, why add another?
I fear a school like Charleston could be in prime position to steal that spot. Hip young city that's becoming a popular tourist draw, energized fan base that will average 5,000 a night (including student turnout!), and seemingly significantly more invested in NIL. Kelsey probably making an A10 coach's salary already too.
I hope I'm wrong, and I defer to a lot of you guys who I know are much more connected to the day to day operations at Hofstra, but from this average long distance fan's perspective it doesn't feel at all like the university is positioned to jump on an opportunity like this.

Re: Umass LEAVING A10
Hofstra will do nothing.
Re: Umass LEAVING A10
Already in the CAA/Other Teams thread under: Charleston to the A10?

Re: UMASS to MAC, leaves A10
We need a full court press to apply to replace them in the A-10.

Hofstra Football. Undefeated since 2009!

merging again

Conference Realignment (Again)
UMass is rumored to join the MAC, Charleston is on the short list of schools mentioned as a replacement.
Not that there's anywhere to go, but where does this leave HU in an even more watered down conference (no UD and no Charleston)?

North eastern needs a travel partner
The closest school to Northeastern right now is either Hofstra or Stonybrook, depending upon how you travel to New England states

Re: Conference Realignment (Again)
At least Howard won't beat us in lacrosse - at least for now.
Re: Conference Realignment (Again)
We should really check the CAA/Other Teams section more often. We're making cactus' job more difficult by having him keep merging things when topics are already started elsewhere (just looking out for you cactus - I'll leave it to you if you want to leave this one here, doesn't matter to me).

Both would make sense geographically but Howard already said no last year to invite and Bryant just joined America East.stuball888 wrote:Howard and Bryant are the two new schools coming in

Word is Fordham can block Hofstra and has...crazy, we bring all of Long Island to the table and they could use another rivalry.dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 4:24 pm Pretty major conference realignment news... Totaly agree...I do hear some rumblings about us making an attempt...maybe we can give Fordham Tomasco and two more phantom players to be named later for them to stop blocking us.JoeyBagODonuts1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 7:53 pm We need a full court press to apply to replace them in the A-10.
