Cole’s hands are tied. He doesn’t have any control over it unfortunately. Metzger is the one calling the shots. Cole doesn’t want this garbage either. Trust me…

I can tell you I’ll have tears of joy when Seth is gone or they just go ahead and get rid of the men’s lax program.

I have no doubt you are spot on, but i am still going to comment on this. ST is a fine man but geez this has gone off the rails.

It is complete and total negligence by the UNIVERSITY to allow this to unfold over the past decade. I'm not yet a believer in Cole by any means, not seeing what I expected from him when he arrived, but he is FAR from the single culprit. It's likely he can't make a move as previously noted. And THAT right there is primary issue. And it's unacceptable. No one, NO ONE, can be allowed to be bigger than a program. This is a failure by HU's administration, full stop.

Being tearful after losing to MONMOUTH after a decade of garbage is loser nonsense. He should be FURIOUS, not crying. At himself, at his team, at his staff, at everything. And he should've been like about 6 friggin years ago. Too little too late. Good guy has nothing to do with this. Sure he's nice. And knows lacrosse. The problem is he sucks as our HC. This is D1, it's business. Produce or c ya. And it's way past time to send him packing.

We can only hope and pray this is his last year.

I also wouldn’t consider Seth Tierney to be a “fine man” either. In my interactions with him when I was a student athlete at Hofstra he was a complete and total prick. Acted like all was fine and dandy and nothing he could do was wrong. This was like 13 years ago as well.

Losing to Monmouth is embarrassing. Like you said Polito, he shouldn’t be crying. He should be saying in his postgame presser that he should be fired or resign after losing to teams like we’ve lost to over these last 15 years. Total joke, but it is what it is at this point. Let’s just keep pushing for bball to continue to rise to help make a name for Hofstra

The lax programs fall from grace is a disgrace. I don’t know ST well enough, seems like a good man, but the program needs a reset.

Jon Cooper was just interviewed on TNT post game tonight, and they showed him in a Hofstra Lax jersey. Nice little shoutout for this dump of a program that we have at the moment.

Just a heads up, I don't want to have to lock the thread here because of personal attacks. Let's try to avoid those going forward. Thanks.

Just took a look at Newsday's top 100 boys lacrosse players and NOT ONE has commited to Hofstra, not one! LIU has 8 commits and to be fair Stony Brook did not have one either.

LI is a real hot bed for the sport and the the two, alleged top tier schools on the Island have signed no one!

Not to change the subject but looking at the top players in softball that I follow from Long Island we had signed a few and in baseball as well but it seems that Stony Brook out signs us 2-1. I can't complain about softball because we have gotten good players from outside Long Island only to see them poached from power schools down south. I've been told that we also recruited the two top soccer players on the women's side one the #1 public school player the other the top girls catholic school player.

Lacrosse is a whole other story!

Jack Rao, Islip, M/A, Sr.

Rao had 36 goals and 24 assists. Coach Keith Scheidel praised the Hofstra commit’s work ethic and called him the “point guard of the offense.”

We also have recruits coming in next year from Calvert Hall (MD), Cherry Creek (CO), IMG Academy (FL), and other top programs.

There are many fine players around the country who want to come to Hofstra. For whatever reason, LI kids prefer to go away to college. Been that way for a long time.

Yeah, there are LOTS of really quality lax schools across the country to choose from, and many will go for a variety of reasons (cost, weather, academic reputation, girls, change pace, PT, bigger brand names, MUCH better chances of winning, etc.)

And it's true, there are several hotbeds of talent nowadays, but let's not pretend like HU shouldn't do better locally. And let's definitely not pretend like change isn't long overdue here. I'll bet you both our savings that if HU produced a ranked program that had conf championships, NCAAT appearances, and was a legit candidate to make runs, like it USED TO, you would see more kids stay. Because more than 1 did under JD. Different time yes, but the program won and that guy was a star HC. It matters. It still matters. And HU needs to rip this awful losing bandaid off.

Another first time loss. This time to Sacred Heart. I don't want to hear that they are a ranked team - historically the only question was would we put up 20 on them. Tierney's legacy continues. It is appalling.

Who is the Sacred Heart coa ch? Maybe we should hire him...has taken that school to an undefeated record and top twenty ranking.

Yeah whatever is left of the pro ST crowd has lost any ammo- the excuses used to be well ya know the landscape changed and power programs are putting out mens lax etc - but when a school like Sacred Heart builds a ranked program that schools yours, that's a tough one to just excuse away lol

ST's legacy will sadly be one of destroying HU mens lax - not all him and that's not entirely fair, but that's his legacy - he and HU should've taken things more seriously and done something to right the ship over the past DECADE instead of just foolishly fumbling along like all is well

Watched an interesting YT video the other day on St Anthony's lax program - not one kid has HU on their radar. Not ONE. Same for Chaminade. HU isn't even in the conversation. Yet all they talk about is Long Island lax pride. I don't believe for one second that HU can't get more talented kids to play local for their hometown and in front of their friends and family.

IF IF IF they actually believed they had a chance to be great and do great things with this program. The problem isn't kids wanting to leave - there will always be a desire to go away for school, esp cool ones with big names. BUT there are also PLENTY of kids that are willing to stay home. And if you can't recruit your home, you're toast. In college sports you go where the talent takes you, so it's more national than it's ever been. BUT it's also widely known and accepted in ALL sports that in addition recruiting where you can, you MUST recruit your home region to sustain success.

When you can't be intriguing enough to keep some LI proud kids in LI, you are the problem. Not the kids. Not the other schools. Not the landscape. Not the planetary alignment or whatever other bs people come up with. You.

Amazing nobody noticed but we picked up a dominating win over CAA rival Fairfield yesterday, our first CAA win. Also retired Ryan Tierney's number in a nice ceremony.

it was noticed. They played well. Congrats to the team. Keep that level of play going.

I was at the game yesterday. Here are a few observations:

1. We won 68% of our faceoffs. Cole Myer had perhaps the best game of his career, going 14 of 20 on strong, physical play and receiving exceptional support from our wings. FR Nico Ghicas, who had been starting, apparently was injured and unable to play.

2. Shea Kennedy was simply terrific in goal and helped hold Fairfield, a prolific scoring team, to just 3 goals until Q4.

3. But for me, the man of the match was GR D Blake Cooling. He outplayed FF's Julian Rassovich, the CAA's Defensive Player of the Year for the last three season. Blake not only picked up 10 GBs and caused 2 turnovers, but he also scored a goal from midfield when FF left the net empty on a 10-man ride.

4. After a lackluster Q1, where we took 14 shots without scoring, our offense came alive and scored 13 goals. Eight of those goals were assisted, tying our single-game record for the season. Good things happen when you pass the ball.

As satisfying as yesterday's victory was, we still have a mountain to climb to qualify for the playoffs. Next week we play at 3-1 Drexel, the week after we host Hampton, and then we conclude the regular season at 4-0 Towson. The Tigers (who have won 21 consecutive CAA games) took the conference title in 2024 and 2025, and have not lost a CAA game in three years.
