After it looked Chris Mack was headed back to Xavier, he's staying put after all.

He was lined up for the Xavier job, and Pitino was up for the Villanova job, but after Mack announced that he was staying in Charleston, and Villanova didn't extend an offer to Pitino, Xavier offered its job to Pitino.

Davis and Aranguren are the best we have at the guard spot but didn't play consistently well enough to garner any NIL money at a Power 4 school. Neither one shoots it well enough. Wouldn't want them on Sparty!

I'm happy to have both Davis and Aranguren back and teamed with Plotnikoff you have three guys who could score in double digits now if we find two other starters that could do the same we have a solid nucleus of a competitive team. These three guys know the system and should help keep up our level of D play. With Edmeade coming in at the point who has always been a scorer and Lopez who had a good freshman year we have the makings of a solid backcourt. We don't really know how Edmeade will pan out playing D1 but all signs point to him being successful. The difficult part will be getting proven post players that are always in high demand.

You're right about them but Sparty is a whole different level. Neither one are close to Estrada, where they were going to do what he did. But off a bad year for the team this season, it was important just to keep continuity with the two best players they had, let others go to create roster room, and surround those two with better pieces to try to make a CAA run. With keeping Davis and Aranguren, maybe getting Plotnikov back, if Edmead is the real deal and can step in right away, adding other pieces, they were able to do all of that. It would have been really bad for next season if off of a bad year, they lost their two best players and had to start over with a bare cupboard. Plus, as sophomores becoming juniors, Aranguren and Davis are at the key points where they should each improve, and that should help too.

We'll see what CAA rivals end up with. The defending CAA tourney champs reworked Siddle's deal and are committing new money to try to become a mid-major force. Mack is staying and Charelston has about $3 million in NIL to spend. So tough challenges remain, but in this new era, where if you're Hofstra and you lack NIL resources relative to the top of your league, it's tough to keep players, and it's a time when recruiting talented freshmen (like they used to) is also tough, and you instead have to look to the portal each year, it's a huge win to be able to keep their two best players plus bring in a talented, local freshman like Edmead for a solid core to build around.

Well Speedy is gonna get his chance to prove he still can develop guys. Team announced Cruz and Jean officially back! That level of continuity on its own you would think should make next year's squad better
Did someone show them the money?
I'm sure they will be getting SOME NIL money.

From where? Is there an official Hofstra NIL fund?

Uncw also lost their big man Obioha. And Charleston lost two of their star wings Boyd and Tavarez (in addition to Brzovic graduating). So even the CAA schools with money aren't immune. And some of the mid-tier teams like Elon, Drexel and Northeastern have been completely gutted.

The big CAA dominoes still waiting on... haven't seen Bashir's name formally in the portal, but can't imagine he'd stay. And can Towson somehow retain Tejada and Williamson for a 3rd season? That would be quite the coup in today's climate

Lamonthes number are not bad
37% Fg
30% 3fg
77% ft
Considering he was their only outside shooter and ither teams keyed on him
I think with Cruz ans Arrangurenon the court with him
He can probsbly boost his fg to 42 and his 3fg to 35
I would be ok with that

Hofstra needs a big. Wonder if this one would make a move down to get more playing time (6-9, 210 from Philly, only 3.7 mpg off the bench for Marquette last year). https://x.com/portal_updates/status/1905303810618097935

Could be like Isaac Kante playing only a couple minutes per game at Georgia before working out well at Hofstra.

At 210 lbs he is more of a stretch 4
A little light to bang down loif he was 225 to 230 thst would be more like Kante
Kante was 240 lbs at 6ft7

Right, but wasn't comparing body types, more lack of minutes played for a power conference team, so maybe he would similarly want to drop down and consider Hofstra for more playing time (if Hofstra wanted him). Jacquil Taylor another one who worked out well in that regard.

None that I know of, but from Philly, so not far away. Maybe wants to come back east again from Marquette? Jacquil Taylor was from Massachusetts, and didn't play much at Purdue, so was thinking along those lines for Amadou.

All of our players are truly in the portal, all it takes is a higher bidder to come along. I would never knock the players for taking the money, but I would respect our school for deciding to not participate in this complete farce of a “student-athlete” world.

I mean it kind of was a farce anyway, but at least we got to see some players stick it out, improve their games and get degrees, now it’s an encouraged cash grab. I don’t understand the end game for our school in this NIL world.
As much as I would hate to see Hofstra leave D-I, everything you said is on point.
A week after making the tournament, St Francis has just pulled a Hartford and done exactly this...

St. Francis head coach Rob Krimmel retires at age 47 after the drop to D3.
