Checkin in postgame just to say what an awesome win over a Big East team that was! Super exciting and tense from start to finish, and being there was wonderful. Love how the crowd was grouped together

Seton Hall clearly isn't a ncaa tourney level team right now, and that game sure was ugly, but any Big East win is an accomplishment worth celebrating!

The 2 things I like most about the team thus far in the early season:

- Toughness: both physical and mental. They hustle, guard and have responded well to adversity in games. Great early signs, feels like there something intangible this team might have that last years was lacking
- They attack the basket (esp Aranguren). Last yrs team would have just kept chucking 3s and probably lost this game. Even Sanders got himself going attacking the basket in the 2nd half tonight

Areas for improvement:
- Half court offense: Really is amazing we won this game considered the scoring droughts we had. Elite defenses slowing our half court offense to a crawl continues to be a bugaboo for Speedys system
- Rebounding: that stretch where Seton Hall bricked like 6 straight FTs and kept getting offensive rebounds was absurd
- The 4 spot: Need one of Gadsden or German to get going and provide something on the offensive end. Though I thought Gadsden did do a nice job on the defensive end down the stretch

As for the environment tonight, the few fans there were into it, but where was everybody?! There really is no excuse that there was a smaller crowd tonight than they'll get for a D3 school at The Mack. Did the cost of having to technically pay for a doubleheader turn people away? Couldn't get a single student to cross the street? I'm not expecting people to be sickos like me and drive 250 miles round trip, but come on

Was watching this game on MSG a offense optional game so much so I fell asleep. I can't remember the last time any HU team scored under 50 points maybe you have to go back to the Butch Van Breda Kolff days. I wonder if anyone was SURPRISED that Decady didn't get in this game?? Right from the beginning of practice I was told that this may be one of the best D teams we have had here so our D moving forward shouldn't surprise anyone.

The 4 could be a problem for us as Plotnikoff hasn't found his touch yet and Gadsden is taking a lot of three's but note he only shot 28% from three last year at Canisius. No question he's a strong rebounder and has a high vertical rise but he needs to start working his mid range game. (points already made by DutchPride86 duly noted)

All wins are nice so kudos to this team for playing tough and beating a Big East team.

Didn’t see a Newsday story on the game. Guess it was too far to travel for them.

I believe we beat Manhattan 49 to 44 back when Tom Pecora was Our coach
He then pinned the term rock fight to describe the game

Watching beginning of the game, the announcers were complaining that Seton Hall had a lot of new players and it would take time for them to jell
Did the announcers even look at our starting lineup that every single player there did not play for us until this year

Newsday had a small paragraph which was basically a report of the final score.

Real good gutty win against a team that will only get better and improve our rankings.
Once again we win in total obscurity as NEWSDAY only has room for TWO ST. JOHN'S stories...ridiculous...I sent them a letter threatening to cancel my 30 year subscription.
I will post an email later for ALL OF YOU to write and express our displeasure over the TOTAL LACK OF COVERAGE.

I looked for the game against W&M where they didn't lead until the winning shot. They won 48-47 at us on January 2, 2010. We led from our first points until W&M tied it with 7:27 left, and W&M's only lead was after a three-point play with 17 seconds left. Earlier that season, we beat Manhattan 44-39. In 2012-2013 we had a horrible offense that scored under 50 points five times.

https://gohofstra.com/news/2024/11/13/m ... -hall.aspx is titled "Hofstra Rallies In Second Half To Defeat Seton Hall." It says "The Pride beat a Big East team for the first time since defeating St. John's, 63-51, on December 29, 2006." It says "This was Hofstra's first win when scoring under 50 points since a 44-39 victory over Manhattan on December 9, 2009."

https://gohofstra.com/boxscore.aspx?pat ... l&id=13414 is the box score. The attendance was 1,400. I wonder when the last time we played a game with that many empty seats was.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqBu5l1SF0Q is highlights. I searched YouTube for highlights of Louisiana Tech vs. Massachusetts, but I did not find them.

Hofstra won despite leading for only 6:38 and trailing for 30:22 (tied for 3:00).

A slow, ugly, and boring first half thankfully gave way to some excitement in the second half.

Love the energy on defense - some coverage mistakes here and there, but all in all the D was solid.

I think this team will be making some noise this year, as well as next year with most of these guys returning.

Like that this was billed as the first "Icons of the game" night. Would love to see this expand to be a competitive 8 team tournament every season at the Coliseum.
