Two different universes. Hofstra retains a coach that can’t put together a winning year and who’s
program trajectory is the cellar, while UVA fires an a coach who has wine 2 NCAA titles and who program has not missed a tournament in all the years he coached at UVA. We live in an Orwellian world.

Shooooot take that UVA dude all day long man - he would run circles around this current staff. But no chance he'll want to come to a lame duck program that has zero aspirations. We're in a brutal spot - sleeping giant with an awesome history in a scorching hotbed but HU has shown zero interest or commitment for this program to return to a power / ranked level.

And right now, I can't go crazy about it as I want all focus on elevating hoops - as Admiral Ackbar famously said, "Concentrate all firepower on that Super Star Destroyer!" Mens lax is sickening and needs rescue, but in this ever evolving landscape hoops is the one and only golden ticket we have and it must be treated as such = Priority #1. Heck, it's Priority 1 - 5 lol.

Although he was apparently appointed 2 years ago, I just found out that Seth Tierney is the head coach of the US National Lacrosse Team which will be competing in the 2027 World Championships in Tokyo. He succeeded John Danowski in that role. (My money will be on the rest of the field)

Guys. Is that not crazy that the UVA guy was that successful and they just let him go. WOW! And here we are with a program that had some heritage and relevance and notoriety and we have completely let it blow up. Insanity is what you call this.

Totally agree Polito. In this day and age we basically need to put all our eggs into one basket which is men’s bball. And watch, if we can continue to build off our men’s bball team the other sports will tend to follow and start to naturally get better besides lacrosse of course.

I also gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with our baseball team as well. I think we are much better than our record and I like the direction we are headed in with our coach. Our men’s baseball team may be something to look out for as well over these next couple of years.

Hofstra has been very active in the transfer portal and has received three commitments with possibly more to come:

Zach Maggiacomo (D, Boston U) - All-Suffolk County player from Patchogue-Medford HS. Coming in as a JR.

Seamus Schofield (FO, Hobart) - A wrestler from Delran, NJ. Brings veteran experience to a unit that suffered through injuries last season. As a GR, can play for one more season.

Johnny Maccarone (A, St. Anthony's / IMG Academy / Ohio State) - A top-50 recruit coming out of HS, he's dealt with several surgeries these past few years. If healthy, he should move into the starting lineup as a right-handed scorer.

Sorry, but it’s the same thing every year with new recruits and new players coming in.

No one good is coming here and no one new they get is going to change the program. That’s the reality of the situation Hofstra is in. They’re coming to play at Hofstra because they’re not good.

Sorry Jojo, Pbdutch is right. You cannot believe anything coming out of the men's lax program and the SID. I looked at recruiting classes on Inside Lacrosse. Hofstra was dead last and tied with VMI and NJIT. The destruction of the Hofstra lax program is frankly scandalous. Worse yet is that the administration including Cole believe their own baloney.

Can you provide a link to this? I know things haven't been great but dead last seems like a stretch given we got a top 100 Inside Lacrosse (94th) in Gus Langtry last year.

Go to Inside Lacrosse. Then Boy's Recruiting. Then Class Rankings. I just checked and Hofstra moved up a few notches, but it isn't anything to write home about. Hope this helps.

I just checked. It’s sad. Very very sad. As a matter of fact. I’m done sending Hofstra money until they fire Tierney. I’m putting my money where my mouth is.

If the school can afford to continue to support this program with Tierney leading then they don’t need any outside support.

This would be an impending Netflix documentary if it was a major power lol - the fall off, ineptitude, inaction, glad-handing, ignoring, wasted dollars, excuses, empty promises, failed leadership, missed goals, ooohh the drama!! LOL
