Ot cancer treatment

Post by stuball888 »

As some of you on the board already know, I am under treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I am in a clinical trial so I am not getting chemotherapy or radiation, but I'm under immunotherapy. The good news is it has an 85 to 90% total remission rate I will be receiving my treatment at Sloan Kettering in Uniondale and being on a strict pill diary and getting infusion and shots each Tuesday eventually it will be once every three weeks. My immune system might be compromised a little bit as one of the side effects but hopefully right now I'm feeling fine and in good spirits. Hope to see you all at the game soon. Just need a little bit more time.

Thanks for all your well wishes
I am a little into the second week of my treatments between the four drugs I'm taking and the infusion and shots. It's taking a toll on me a little bit.
Side effects have been lack of energy Wednesday. I stayed in bed all day. It's what we call Herkel Durkel
I now have my energy back and have no appetite
My wife said I can now shed those pounds
Thats now how I would like it but I will take the weight loss for now
I'm very happy with the care. I'm getting from Sloan.
The next two weeks will be the hardest because the dosage of medication will be increased tremendously, but after that, my body should get used to it and hopefully things will return to normal for me. Hope to see you all soon and go flying dutchmen

OK, an update on my second treatment
This one went much better than the first one even though they increase my dosage from 5 mg to 45 mg with a shot. It seems my body has adjusted to having the extra drug in my system.
So hopefully things will go well notice that the lift is starting to shrink so that's a good sign
The good news and bad news. The good news is I have my appetite back. The bad news is my appetite is back.

Glad this treatment went much better than the first. Regarding your appetite - just limit your white-colored foods (salt sugar flour) and you will be fine!

Update on my treatments
So this past week was the toughest for me so far
The drugs are taking affect me
Low energy and tiredness
I do go into work, but I usually leave halfway through my shift
Next week will be the toughest on Tuesday. I have my final shot and cycle one and infusion then on Thursday I have to go into the city to Sloan and have a biopsy done.
After that, the infusion and shots are only once every three weeks
The good news for me is my appetite is very low right now
When I started the treatment, I weighed 198 now my way to down to 184
