And for all the naysayers here in December, January even in early February... we're IN TH FINALS!
For what it is worth most people who have been hesitant picking hofstra to win the whole thing due to your depth had you guys making the final. Many believed the first game whether Elon or Drexel wouldnt be too tough of a game and you would exert real energy against either W&M or JMU and then had doubts once you got to the final of winning 3 straight. I still think it is valid, however with the foul trouble Gustys has had in the first two games, he certainly wont be one of the players struggling with tired legs. We shall see tonight what it all means. Good luck.
I used to think the depth was an issue. But if you think about it some weeks Hofstra would play a game Thursday evening, travel (and maybe practice?) on Friday and then play a game Saturday afternoon. That almost seems tougher than playing a game Saturday afternoon, Sunday afternoon and Monday night with no travel or other distractions.

Looking forward to tonight! Should be interesting to see how the 3 games in 3 days thing works out, but I think our guys are up for the challenge. They get more than 24 hours rest going into this game, and UNCW gets a few hours less rest. I don't care how deep they claim they are, they'll still be tired today, especially with their style of play. Both teams will be tired, just as any team would be on their third consecutive game. Gustys only played 20 minutes against Drexel and 27 against William and Mary, which may prove to be critical for us since he'll be fresher than he otherwise would've been. If we can keep driving inside on them since that's how to beat them, we can get them in foul trouble since Keatts still hasn't figured out how to not have his team in foul trouble. That's something we didn't do against W&M yesterday, but I think JAM and the team knows that's how to beat the Seahawks, especially when we have Gustys. UNCW also hasn't played particularly well this tournament, but still well enough to advance. They got a lot of help from the refs, especially Saturday against Charleston.

Someone should bring signs that say "What's a Seahawk", because really, what is it? and another one that says "not Chapel Hill", since let's be honest, they're not. I know someone who actually went to UNCW because they didn't get into Chapel Hill, and she said that was the case with a lot of people, and now that she's back home up north, she said no one even knows UNCW exists up here.

We got some News 12 coverage.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of coverage Newsday has for this game, especially since Stony Brook also plays tonight.

Hofstra at least got a mention on today's back cover of Newsday. I'm expecting something bigger if they win tonight.

He also passed Speedy by 1 assist for a season (225-224) and he needs only four more to become the all-time Hofstra single season leader.

At least 25 points, at least four assists and cutting down the nets would be an amazing way for him to head into the NCAA tourney.
Considering Green's last assist that passed Speedy's record was the game winner to Koon, I assume Speedy is ok with that haha. And since we're guaranteed at least 2 more games (today's championship game and a post-season game), it's fairly safe to say he'll break the record. Winning tonight could also earn JG the tourney MVP award, which would be pretty fitting.

Also of note, Dion Nesmith and Moussa Kone were both at the game yesterday.

thought this was interesting. . . because I've been saying it for weeks.
this site is the ONLY one i've seen that believes the LOSER of tonights game should get some consideration.
https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-tourn ... cketology/

HU is 57 RPI, 87 SOS won the 9th best league in D1. is 24-8. 5 wins vs top 100 schools
i don't think UNCW has as strong as a case with SOS at 131 and 3 wins vs. Top 100 schools

yet Linardi first 4 out can be LSU??
90 RPI (NINETY) 205 SOS

MICHIGAN first 4 in
68 RPI 92 SOS 3-11 vs. teams 1-100 (yes 3 wins vs top 25, i will give them that- we are 6-3

I know a loss and we are done...but how we are not in the conversation is beyond me.

Welcome to being a mid major. There is very little in our favor when it comes to taking money err I mean a tournament spot from the power conferences.

Logic says the CAA is a two bid conference. Money is THE FACTOR. I wonder if Laranaga is on the selection committee. If so he has another chance to screw his old conference again. Could this be the groin punch 2. Only this time it would be Laranaga doing to damage

The Selection Committee is made up of ADs, including Northeastern's:

Hathaway knows them all.

I can confirm that there is a bus of students headed down for the game tonight! I don't know how many, but even a few is more than what's been there the past two games. I also have a feeling it's more than just a few, because it has to be worth the cost of a coach bus.

That is exactly right. It is money and politics which are essentially the same thing. Anyone who has been a Hofstra fan since at least 2006 is all too aware of that. And it seems like it's gotten worse since Mason, VCU and Butler made their Final Four runs. They seem to have slammed the door on mid majors since then. It's OK for an occasional upset but a mid major in the Final Four or God forbid winning a national championship like Butler almost did is too much for the power teams to tolerate.

Late to the party I know, I've been TRAVELING all weekend, you can only imagine my nerves !!!

So real quick, BIG TIME W against the tribe - I mean just big time - to beat a talented team 3 times in 1 season is very very tough to do - to do that when the team has a great game plan and literally takes your 2 1st teamers out is even more incredible, and just goes to show how hard it is to beat this squad - any of the 5 can go off and carry the team to a W on any given night - Shaver said they wanted someone else to beat them, and someone else did - another all-conf performer - to have this all in one starting 5 is powerful

AND to do so majorly outnumbered in fans, like HU is basically every game they play a southern school, is just awesome - I mean every positive adjective you can think of applies, gutsy, toughness, never say die, blood sweat and tears, everything on the floor, this team displayed it ALL

Normally I would go nuts with DB in for Rok, as I've felt before, BUT as JM has mentioned, DB has turned the corner (which is incredibly exciting considering he's looked like a starter from day 1! lol), and he had a HUGE game off the bench to help his squad - they threw the kitchen sink at HU, and the good guys still came out on top - that's tremendous

so happy for Koon to get the winning bucket - this guys has been just SUPER in his 1 yr role for HU - and UBER proud of Tanksley, coming up BIG for his team as an often over-looked Sr and key ingredient to the JG show

JG - wow. There is NO QUESTION WHATSOEVER that Green is the best player in this league, and one of the best all-around players in the country - he, and the rest of this pure-heart club, need to be on the national stage - they just NEED to be.

PAYBACK, 3 times over baby!! And I love every single bit of it

tribeheart, thanks for the kind, well earned, words - your team gave it everything they had, tremendous game, talented players/staff, and a great game plan - that said, it is about damn time ONE of you came over here and actually had the balls to give credit to this team and program instead of the ridiculous nonsense I've read on those boards last yr and this - you're the only one with the nads to do so this ENTIRE YEAR, props to you for showing respect that this club has clearly earned

Tonight, my goodness, this will be a BATTLE to the end - likely to be one of the best conf finals all year, and one of the best in CAA history - 7pm tonight tips off a W A R

UNCW has had 2 brutal games - I honestly think that both will be weary tonight, and this is for the CHAMPIONSHIP, so IMO fatigue is a no longer a real factor at this point - both are talented, I don't see that as the real difference-maker - this game comes down to heart, will-power, and most importantly to HU, EXPERIENCE - and this is where I think our fellas bring the A game

No reason to be fearful or nervous about this game folks - that to me is for "upset" games - this DEF is not that - as has been mentioned, BOTH of these squads really deserve to dance - both are good enough to, both will make their runs, both will lay it all out on the line - I look for HU's tough as nails, cold as ice maturity and experience to pay BIG TIME dividends - prayers up to this program and all the awesome people that comprise it

The nets, the ring, the dance, it's all there for the taking - LET'S GO GET IT

W&M Shaver put it best about Green in the postgame: "he makes the right play 99.9% of the time" and that's true. Not the most athletic dude out there but maybe the most cerebral at seeing the court and taking what he's given

This is my point in the "Championship" thread and in other threads all season long.

How do we go from this before the game to "we lost because we were gassed" after they lose?
