Nice, would be cool if it were Temple. Thanks for the inside scoop. On a business trip and sadly had to miss the event.

I got a call from a student aide. He was not the new ticket manager.

Like this event much better than that stagnant "Meet and Greet" from the last couple of years.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it as that weekend is our big Member-Member golf tournament.

Anyone make it out today? What did folks think? It’s a nice event, but it feels like the ticket office staff could do so much more. The practice itself was wonderful, going to be a fun season! But the lack of engagement from the ticket office staff, leaves a lot to be desired.

I attended the practice session. Definitely a better event than the ones of the past. Great opportunity to watch the guys (both players and coaches) work. Heights and weights of new players listed on the roster all looked about right.

Nice chunk of time spent on defense, which was good to see. Guys were running half court sets/plays and defense was going all out to be spoilers. Lots of player enthusiasm in winning defensive plays. Lots on coaching commenting and helping guys with some of the fine points of D.

Last 1/2 hour was 5 on 5 half court. Some guys were switching back and forth from O to D, but it was clear that the O was set up with the planned/starting rotation of players that will be used this season (to the extent that some decisions have been made and that its still 5 weeks before we start games).

Sunday and Graham went back and forth on O and D. DeCady was never on the offensive team.
Cruz, Gadsden, and Sanders are sure to be in the starting 5.
Robinson, Farmer, Parnell were the other players that went back and forth from O to D. One of these three may the fifth starter with Plotnikov and the other two coming off the bench.
Very odd to me that Plotnikov played D only.
Williams, DeCady, Lopez, and Henriqiz also played D only (or maybe some very limited O that I missed).
Arunguren (spelling?) did not participate in the 5 on 5. He did practice the first hour or so, but maybe is nursing an injury and cant go 100% yet.

Some observations:
Sanders is a physically strong guy (a solid 215 lb muscular guard). Can drive with authority and also shoot the three.
Graham looks to be a solid experienced all around player with good defensive feel. Does not look to the be foul machine like we had last year.
Cruz looks solid. He's pretty quick and has a nice first step. Good mid range pull up. Shaking hands with him, I would say he is a solid 6'3". Nice to have a pg with some size.
Sunday looks to be in good shape (he is a big boy) and several times he had the ball down low he showed some good footwork that I dont recall him having last season. Hopefully he was working hard all offseason. Given his size, he doesn't have to be perfect to have an impact.
Parnell is the most athletic guy on the team. He is quick, shoots a nice "j", and skies off the floor. Had a few mid-range jumpers where he shot at the peak of his jump and the hand of the defender was at least a foot and a half below the ball.
Robinson showed more than last season's dribble up and launch a 30 footer. Looked to be passing, driving, and showing better ball handling than last season. Still looks like potential for solid 3-pt threat if he can be consistent.
Lopez is a real gritty type player. He looks to be a real pain in the A when he's guarding you - a real harasser with quick hands. Not a bad shooter.

We shall see how they gel and if they can play consistent O and D. The talent is there for a solid season. Execution will be the tell.

So yeah I was there and a few of us here were also there. Somehow I thought we were getting our tickets at this event but after I asked I was told by Danaiya Abrams that there is a season ticket holder event scheduled for 10/30 when we'll get our tickets. Am I the only one clueless about this? This coincides when these events happened in the past. I know a lot of us are pondering who we think will be our starting 5. I was told by someone around the programs here and who has seen a lot of practices that they believe the starting 5 will be Graham, Sanders, Cruz Davis at PG, T.J. Gadsen and possibly Jean Aranguen. Jean for whatever reason didn't participate in today's scrimmages.

The word I was hearing about this team is that they have formed a strong bond already and have a lot of vocal kids unlike the lead by example persona's of Tyler and Aaron. Just my takeaway from the practices is that these kids are quick and hungry and really could be a strong defensive group. Hard to say definitively but there's a lot of talent on the court. As we would expect Parrotta coaching the bigs and Speedy and DePaoli working with the guards. I actually was impressed with the walk-on who played hard Jayden Henriquez. I'm sure he could be playing somewhere maybe not D1 but D2.

Nice analytic post Cards I was too busy talking to be that observant. I agree with the comments about this kid Parnell he looks very impressive and can jump. I wonder where he will slot on this team.

I was clueless about THIS event - I dont recall getting ANYTHING from the new Hofstra staff - truthfully I was unavailable so not upset - but wouldve like knowing more importantly dont want to left on the outside for future events

thanks for the scouting report - nice to see we have potential talent to compete this year - with the season right around the corner

sltill think we are starting
at bigs
sunday (5) and graham (4)
off the bench graham
starting backcourt
davis (1), arangruen (2) and sanders (3)
off the bench plotnikov (first guy off the bech logging many jack of all trade minutes) and ???either parnell, farmer or robinson???

Sunday and Graham won't start together IMO Gadsden is a really good looking player with a strong resume. This is not to say that Graham and Sunday won't be on the floor at the same time if the situation warrants it but this will be the exception.

Agree triplec. Too bad that Aranguren did not play in the 5 on 5 at practice. Sounds like he is highly thought of - would have loved to have seen him play.

I meant to ask yesterday if tickets for Seton Hall will be offered to STH. Did anyone happen to ask that question?

If you mean pride will they be offered as part of our season ticket package that certainly appears to be no. I know when we played Villanova there we had to buy those tickets. These tickets are expensive.

I assumed the Seton Hall game is not included with season tickets, I've already bought some from Ticketmaster.

I was at the open practice and one thing I can say for sure is that Speedy will have a bench to work with this year. The intensity of the practice and emphasis on D was nice to see. With a deeper roster and more guys to spread minutes around, maybe that can carry over to the games. Agreed that Parnell's athleticism stood out, and Cruz looks good as well, but also was impressed by DeCady - he was working out with Sunday early on and looked very fluid offensively and was guarding well at center in the scrimmage.
