Re: another trivia question
Coached by Butch VBK with the Lakers? Best i got.
Re: another trivia question
Mikey is correct! West was on the team when VBK coached the Lakers from 1967 to 1969.
Re: another trivia question
Here's one for you. What Hofstra football player was drafted ahead of Tom Cassese (Lehigh's men's lax coach) by the same NFL team and played eight years in the NFL?
Re: another trivia question
Was it Fran Lynch?
Re: another trivia question
Yes. Good catch.
Re: another trivia question
Boy I did not realize he lasted 8 years in the league.
Pretty impressive.
Not a prototypical running back. Fairly tall, not super fast and not a bruising back. He must have had some good instincts and could wait and find some holes. An over-achiever I think. Nice career.

Re: another trivia question
Hofstra had a long history of sending overachievers to the NFL which makes the cancellation of a somewhat storied program so sad and gnawing.
Re: another trivia question
I had to look up Tom Cassese (slightly before my time). I don't know that he was Lehigh's head mlax coach -- his son, Kevin, now at UVA, was -- but I believe Tom served as an assistant under his son for a year or two:

I remember watching Fran Lynch play for the Broncos, but did not know he was a Hofstra alum. Always heard about John Schmitt, Mike D'Amato, et al.

Looks like Fran and Tom were teammates at Denver in the late 1960s.
