Gutty, awesome win for Hofstra!!

So proud of this team. They remembered last year and they got it done. W&M did a great job (especially in the first half) of taking away the pick-and-roll from Green & Rok, but HU rode Tanksley's aggressiveness and Bernardi's 3-point shooting until the POY could do what he once again did today down the stretch. Shaver said he makes the right play 99.9% of the time, and that he really admires Green's game. That was basically the formula.

Also, with Rok on the bench with 4 fouls at the under-8 timeout, JAM stayed small, with Buie, instead of bringing Walker back. And it worked. Buie helped them down the stretch.

Great win. 9 straight. ONE MORE!

And for all the naysayers here in December, January even in early February... we're IN TH FINALS!

Hats off to you guys on a tough earned win today...Very hard to follow-through on being preseason favorites, then go out and win the regular season, then beat a team 3 times and put yourself in position for the champiuonship and automatic berth...Regardless of what happens tomorrow night, this team deserves a legitimate at large berth. You're an NCAA tournament caliber team.

UNCW beats Northeastern in another close game. Two of the wildest games I've seen were split between these teams this year. Who will take the rubber match?

What is the deal with the camera angle for HU post game conferences. Is the camera laying on the floor. Compare it to the W&M conference. W&M s looks very professional while HU doesn't. Just an observation.

The least they could have done was get the name cards right at the interview table. JuanYa had Joes name in front of him and Joe and Juan yas name in front of him.

Joe switched them at the beginning of the press conference. He wanted to know what it was like to be Juan'ya.

The university sent out a mass email to students after today's game gauging interest on sending a bus full of them down tomorrow.

Yeah they have to get down there. Although the contingent that was there (the non-students) made up a decent section near the Hofstra bench and was pretty loud at times.

I was one of the students at the game today. We have a bus of about 50 students coming down tomorrow and a few random cars full of students. Im expecting a student section of around 70 LOUD Students.

As most have already said, not pretty but it gets us to the finals!

Gotta get RG involved tomorrow. he should be well rested playing only half of each of the last two games.

Everyone else has to dig deep tomorrow. This last game of the series with UNCW will be the toughest of the 3 in 3. I'm sure they will be pressing and trying to run us off the court. They have to be expecting some fatigue on HUs part. Our guys have to show them we will do whatever it takes to win one more!

What you're saying about Rok is what I was saying a couple of weeks ago on here -- that HU is built well for this tournament, with different guys able to step up at different times. On Saturday, Juan'ya primarily carried us against Drexel. Today, with W&M taking Juan'ya away until late, Bernardi was shooting well for a second straight day and Tanskely stepped up in a major way while Gustys was a non-factor offensively. Tomorrow is maybe the day that Bernardi gets cold again (I hope not, because I think he can keep it going!) but then if that happens, maybe Rok comes back into the fold and does damage offensively, especially since he should still be relatively fresh after playing only 47 minutes in two games and taking only 1 shot today. That said, I saw Hofstra's season flash before my eyes as he was on the ground, about 30 feet in front of me, holding his ankle, 1:06 into today's game. But he seems like he'll be okay for tomorrow. The fact that it's a night game instead of another noon or 1 pm start will help.

And check out the point we're allowing lately -- 67 in each game of the tourney thus far, and allowing in the 60's for 5 straight games and in 6 games overall during this 8-game win streak.

p.s. I just ran into Coach Waheed at the hotel pool a couple of hours ago. Nice dude. He was there with his two sons.

I want to check the last time Hofstra had three wins against a Top 100 RPI opponent in one season was before William & Mary this season.

He'd much rather cut down the nets, of course, but Juan'ya can overtake David Walker and be this season's outright CAA scoring champion with 25 points in the title game.

On this note, Omar Prewitt was a big factor in W&M's semifinal win last year. On Sunday, held to just 5 pts on 1/12 shooting.

He also passed Speedy by 1 assist for a season (225-224) and he needs only four more to become the all-time Hofstra single season leader.

At least 25 points, at least four assists and cutting down the nets would be an amazing way for him to head into the NCAA tourney.

For what it is worth most people who have been hesitant picking hofstra to win the whole thing due to your depth had you guys making the final. Many believed the first game whether Elon or Drexel wouldnt be too tough of a game and you would exert real energy against either W&M or JMU and then had doubts once you got to the final of winning 3 straight. I still think it is valid, however with the foul trouble Gustys has had in the first two games, he certainly wont be one of the players struggling with tired legs. We shall see tonight what it all means. Good luck.
