Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
White leaving is massive news for the caa. But not gonna lie makes me pretty happy to see that even uncw can't afford to keep their best players. I wish it wasn't this way, but as long as it is just hope for Hofstra to be on a level playing field with the rest of the conference (besides Charleston of course for however much longer they're still here).
As for Carlos, wish him the best of luck. Signing at a school like syracuse completes validates his decision to leave. Now if I was a Cuse fan would I be excited with JC and jyare davis as my 2 big portal gets? Different story...

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Only one left have 12 scholarship players right now unless somebody else is going. The last scholarship may have been taken by Mo Odum who was coming for a visit today. According to sidelines Hofstra we have already used our last scholarship ;Sidelines - Hofstra

Hadn't seen this announced here yet... from a few days ago!

"Canisius transfer TJ Gadsden has committed to Hofstra, source told ESPN. Talented 6-foot-7 wing averaged 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds this past season. Shot nearly 35% from 3 during the 2022-23 season. Should help the Pride right away."
That's a great add Speedy!

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Can someone post the following- Unofficial roster - Player, school transferred from, height, avg pts, yrs remaining and anything else you deem pertinent - thanks in advance
Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Zman3 - You can get all that and more on Verbal Commits. its a website.
Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Here's a list I started. Someone else can add other details:
RETURNING PLAYERS:
Farmer (HU)
Parnell (JC)
Plotnikov (JC)
Robinson (HU)
Sunday (Iona)
NEW TRANSFERS:
Aranguren (Iona)
Davis (St. John's, Iona)
Gadsden (Canisius, GMU)
Graham (Loyola Marymount, Elon)
Lopez (St. Francis PA)
FRESHMEN:
DeCady (HU)
Williams (HU)
We have only six "home grown" players (FR and JC transfers), and only one transfer from a better program (Davis played just 26 minutes at SJU).
This is what happens when you allow unlimited transfers and pay college players.
*****
Link to Verbal Commits (you need to filter by Hofstra). Only four incoming transfers are listed.

Also Gadsden was going to transfer Mt St Mary's then Syracuse and wound up with us. Great pickup!! Sidelines - Hofstra

Gadsden would enter the transfer portal this off-season
He would originally commit to Mount St. Mary's before reopening his commitment with Dan Engelstad leaving for Syracuse
Gadsden will now be joining the Pride for his senior season

So is Odum still coming? Thought all the buzz was he would get announced over the weekend.
Also know there had been some talk here about the Traore brothers.... Drissa (from st johns) just committed to Rhode Island

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
This is a good question re Odum who I was led to believe was in the house. Maybe I was assuming but I did send a message to "Sidelines Hofstra" who claimed we had used our last scholarship AND THAT WAS DAYS AGO. I haven't received an answer yet and possibly Odum has some other school in the mix?dutchPride86 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 1:43 pm So is Odum still coming? Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Also just saw this in "Busting Brackets" dated 4/27 Miro Little (Baylor, 3 years left)
Preferred Destination: Hofstra
Hofstra has basically become the Borussia Dortmund of mid-major college basketball under Speedy Claxton. A place that can find young players who struggled at the top level (Aaron Estrada, Darlinstone Dubar) or were great but in a conference too small to take them directly to an elite team (Tyler Thomas), turns them into offensive studs and if they still have time, sends them to play for the best. And the Pride come really close but never actually win important trophies.
Hofstra should try for another stud prospect (top fifty in 2023) in Miro Little, who struggled to ever find consistent minutes at Baylor. The flashes of talent were on full display last summer at the FIBA World Cup (senior level, not some U19 tournament), when he averaged five assists a game as Finland's starting point guard, playing with NBA All-Star Lauri Markkanen. A great guard himself, Claxton could potentially be the perfect mentor for Little.

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
So it appears we've gone in a different direction from Odum. Jaquan Sanders from Seton hall just committed. Didn't play much for them, but appears to be a good shooter. Solid size for a guard at 6'4 205. Seems like a good get!
Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
He has a nice high school resume.
He was Mr New York State basketball in 2022.
Nice!!!

Re: NCAA 2024 MBB Transfer Portal
Monster get by speedy. Former Mr New York, 4* recruit, plenty of runway in front of him. Excellent shooter from outside. Put this kid in the right system, give him minutes and he’s going to flourish.
