Glad it was a close hard fought game...was hoping for triple overtime....Drexel and Bruiser will give us a tough game...count on it.

I like the matchup - HU is focused and hungry, lets go get it

Like CofC playing UNCW too, they'll give them a major battle, and have a shot to steal it - I also look for NU to play well in the tourney as always, and think if the matchup happens they can also take down the W

Holden kid from UD is a player, glad next yr is his last lol - he and Rok will be 2 of the top 5 candidates for POY next season

Love the team together and sizing up the enemy - will pay off

And I really like HU's time draws, 2 nooners and then the night championship - that's almost the best spacing they could ask for and will really help rest and recovery

Sleep well and fast, it's GAMETIME!!!

Two games that go down to the losing team's final possession, one by a point, another by 4. Great start to the tourney.

Now on to the big day, with the most games and HU to start it off.

Hofstra is very happy with tonight's outcome in the first game. They wanted to play Drexel a lot more than Elon. Felt Elon posed a tougher threat, not that they think Drexel will be a cakewalk by any stretch.

They also want JMU, who as word has it, is a very cocky group. HU wants to play them and shut them up. But be careful what you wish for. They beat W&M twice, once by 28, and of course lost twice to JMU in OT. But they also felt that win was real sweet last year after losing twice to JMU. And they see beating W&M twice this year as payback already for last year's semifinal game.

So great to be here. Trip's off to a good start. Already meeting some cool people here. Would like to see/meet you guys too, so let me know.

We shouldn't take Drexel lightly since they did play us fairly close in the 2 regular season games, and they even had a decent lead on us at their place. That being said, I'm very glad we get second-day Drexel when they only have an 18 hour turnaround instead of facing them fresh.

And yes Wags, JMU is very cocky, players and fans included, just read their message board and see how their fans behave. Maybe it's some special unwritten admissions requirement  Did you get to talk to our players and hear that first-hand?
They swept us last year in the regular season, then we beat them pretty handily in the tourney, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen again should we face them tomorrow.

Hey! JMU student here but I can definitely say that all my friends were happy with the potential to play Hof in the semis. I don't think they realize how hard it is to beat a team three straight times. I would rather see W&M just because I feel we match up better with them (and don't want to have to hear it from my friends). Dalembert when he is on his game can match Rok physically which not many other players can do. Still think we would beat JMU a third time, and it will be interesting to see who is healthy for them (Shakir Brown is questionable and so is the Serb) JMU is also very deep but does not have the talent IMO. Either way, pumped for this weekend. Feel really good!

Not from a player but someone else very close to the team with the in the hotel lobby last night. Can say who exactly, but not really sure if I should with something like that.

It's 9:43 am now. Just saw the team walk by from my hotel room, overlooking The Gallery Mall, on their way to the team breakfast.

9:55 am. Already coming back. Quick breakfast. Hope they didn't eat too fast.

True story, on the way to MegaBus from Penn yesterday, was helping a guy give his friend the Heimlich. He was choking on a bayleaf, he thought. He was okay by the time the ambulance arrived at 10th & 43rd. Thankfully, all was good.

Older sister was a year younger than Agudio at Walt Whitman HS so I grew up watching him and when he chose Hofstra, been a fan since. Didn't even want visit JMU just because they were in the CAA, but just loved the campus and couldn't say no. Can't steal the Pride from me though!

Ha, good stuff. I expect you to infiltrate them if it's 1 vs. 4 tomorrow. :)

While we're waiting for HU's first game of the tourney, here's a recap of the first round with some pics & coach/player quotes:

Solid half for the Dutch. 42-29.

Juan'ya 13 pts (only 1 ast), Rok 11 & 8, Ameen 8 pts.

Drexel has one with 9, two with 8.

And Hofstra won the halftime fan shootout vs. a Drexel fan too!

Plus Koon was almost non-existent in the first half, and Gustys sat for a while in foul trouble.

I see this as a good thing.

Gustys with two fouls for the half is pretty normal, as long as it's not already 3. Walker with 3 hardly matters since he's not going to play much anyway, and the fact he already has 3 might have saved Gustys from already having 3 or 4, which would be a big problem, obviously.

Yikes, just as I say that, Gustys gets his 3rd, :43 into the half.
