Omar has announced he is leaving. Reportedly he is close with Perez. Understanding we may have no scholarships, and the feeling of most of this Board, I would take him back in a minutePride97 wrote:Omar Silverio’s new team fires coach weeks before the season starts. Wow!
Reports are 6-7 players are transferring out including the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Jose Perez.

Re: Transfer Portal
You have to wonder if Speedy would want him back and also we have a lot of guards on this team. How many minutes would he realistically get.
Re: Transfer Portal
No need or room for Omar. Time to move on.

Agreed - we have lots of talent alreadyJojogunne wrote:No need or room for Omar. Time to move on.
Re: Transfer Portal
+1 - Wish him the best and loved having him as a lifelong member of the pride, but we have enough offense this season and think finding him minutes would be the wrong move.
Re: Transfer Portal
Agreed, we're set at his position.

Speaking of Omar, apparently he is heading to Missouri-Kansas City next year. And Steve Masiello landed on his feet at Iona:

Re: Transfer Portal
Kansas City ("Missouri" was taken out of the name) is in the Summit League with Omaha where I live. I've been to 38 Hofstra games, Florida State vs. Murray State in the NCAA Tournament, and a little of two other games. I'm not checking box scores to find out, but I am assuming I have never seen a player play for multiple teams. Kansas City (8-13) and Omaha (7-14) are bad. I would be more likely to go to an Omaha game if they were good.
Re: Transfer Portal
just read on twitter that Omar Silverio is playing at West Virginia next season - quite the step up form Manhattan.

Re: Transfer Portal
Well he will now be playing in the Big 12 conference which is the #1 ranked conference in the country. What kind of playing time will Omar get there.
Re: Transfer Portal
I guess I won't get to see him. I was hoping he would play for Kansas City so I could see him play for two teams and see him after his game with 11 threes.
Re: Transfer Portal
Would like us to pick up a true center from the portal to pair with Lual Manyang.

you must be talking about his son!
Re: Transfer Portal
Rick Pitino already mentioning on Twitter that he will be losing some guys for next year due to NIL....the new landescape in CBB, not a big fan of it.
Re: Transfer Portal
Omar Silverio at West Virginia? I feel like Omar was at Rhode Island while Kevin Pittsnoggle and Beilin were leading the charge there at WVU. Beilin and Pittsnoggle have there kids on the new teams probably.

Nope- not a fan either.
The mid-majors- including Iona and Hofstra - are going the minor leagues/D League for the Power Conferences - it is what it is- what it is stinks.

Re: Transfer Portal
I said a while back where I see the NCAA going is that the NCAA tournament will expand to 96 teams all in the power five conferences
What happens to the middle majors
They will be relegated to the NIT, which will expand to 64 teams
Follow the money. This is our new reality.
