After 2 tremendous performances this week, Juan'ya Green was named the CBS Sports Player of the Week. He beat out players from Providence and Oregon.

What an awesome recognition. Good for Juan'ya! He joins some good company on that list.

Congrats JG - very nice work - well deserved - impressive company
Re: MBB vs W&M, 1/23
That is fantastic and extremely well-deserved - gotta give this young man credit, he has played lights out, like a true POY these recent games - and this is a big deal, with a lot of national attention, much bigger than CAA POW
Again, to me I had hopes upon his arrival he could be the next NBA guard from HU - I'm not quite sure he's a full-fledged NBA guy, as we've seen him pull a Houdini a little too often, he actually STILL DOES have a chance - if he continues hot play, and leads this team to the promised land in the CAAT, as I've always said, HU's proximity to the overabundance of media around the tri-state could produce enough national hype and shine to get him a real shot
it won't be easy, he'll need to continue this very high level of play, but it's still possible - whether he should or not is irrelevant - he's got the opportunities with scouts at games, and a lot of times it's the hot player that plays his way into the next level, even if just temporarily
I was very frustrated with his attitude in many games last yr, and felt he need to work harder and develop more emotional maturity to lead this team this year - I am very happy to note that from my view he's done exactly that - and I love to see people overcome to become - really pulling for him big time!

PH2015 the internet. Almost every school has live stream video and I am sure they can tape or archive it.

Wow, that is really a fantastic write-up! I thought it was just being named, this guy has details!! He understands the conf, the race, the quality, even knows HU's nickname roots! I mean that is cool
And oh my, did I enjoy his description of the W&M game LOLOLOL - er, excuse me, the 'BILL & MARY' game!

Great national honor... great exposure for player and school... now maybe some people will show up to watch him play.

Not on their own, just by sheer luck, they won't.HUSID80 wrote:Great national honor... great exposure for player and school... now maybe some people will show up to watch him play.
However, with a home game on Thursday night, Green coming off his personal Hofstra high of 30 pts, with 8 reb, 7 asts, 4 stls, no to's, and receiving this CBS Sports POW honor, one would think that might be a great marketing opportunity to pounce on with an ad in Newsday & perhaps other places while the opportunity is still there.
Hint, hint...

Drained a three as well.daHUPride wrote:you got your wish JFW in at the 2 minute mark for BBdutchalum01 wrote:When exactly does coach decide to let Bernardi ride the bench for an extended amount of time and give JWF some minutes?

Re: MBB vs W&M, 1/23
I have no problem with Bernardi getting 29-30 minutes a game and JWF playing 10-11 minutes a game...

Weekly award number 3 for Juan'ya Green to add to the other 2 announced today (CBS and CAA), Mid-Major Madness POW. The article mistakenly says UNCW instead of W&M a few times. Rokas Gustys was also considered for the award this week.

I like Bernardi and believe he will get out of his funk soon, but I have no issue taking some minutes from him. I would really like to see more of Buie than he few minutes he gets now. The offense really seems to move nicely when he is at the point and Green slides to the 2. He may not have scored any points, but he can penetrate and has a good knack for finding the open shooter. He also played some nice D. I think JAM should give those 5 some more time together to have a different look. Gives them two guys on the floor who can penetrate rather than another guy parking on the perimeter.garyg wrote:I have no problem with Bernardi getting 29-30 minutes a game and JWF playing 10-11 minutes a game...
