It doesn't sound like Wynter will be wearing the blue and gold anytime soon:

Highly doubt it was ever even a possibility for Wynter to xfer to HU.

And I'm sorry, but Estrada is not our PG. HU absolutely needs a PG. He did it because he can, and no one else was doing it well, not because he should. I don't want Estrada dishing OUT, I want him driving and/or receiving the ball so he can score. He's a COMBO guard. Not a starting PG.

I sure hope its Carlos. That's what he's here for.

Either way, this staff better be out there landing some serious talent. Once again they have a ton to replace. And for the love of all that is good in this world, recruit some players that CAN PLAY SOME FRIGGIN DEFENSE.

Agree AGREE AGREE

Wynter is not in our future - him transferring here would NOT be a step up for him at best it would be a lateral move - He should be looking to step up - interesting if he goes to Penn State (where Mike Farrelly is at) - Farrelly has to know him from the area (played HS ball and The Island and from the many HU vs Drexel match-ups. (do you think Cramer could play in the Big10??? he was recruited by Farrelly out of HS - is talented enough to move up their and have a reunion with Farrelly)

Estrada - your assessment is spot on - our team going forward needs to built around Estrada (and Dubar) - Estrada played PG for us this year because he was the best player on the floor and his unselfish play was our only chance of balancing out Ray and Cooks - when those two were on the court at the same time - from the start I HATED Ray and Cooks playing together - Cooks game demanded that he have the ball in his hands - and Ray needs a guy that could always find him spotting up from 3. Estrada - proved to me, besides his smooth calm talented game, that he is a TEAMPLAYER - and having Estrada at the PG is utilizing his game.

Carlos - I am hoping that the coaching staff knows what Carlos is and can be - I know I didn't see it this year in Carlos's limited play - with loss of Cooks and Ray (to graduation) and Burgess (transfer) - it sure opens it for Carlos. If Carlos is what he was advertised as - playing with Estrada and Dubar could make us interesting foe.

Defense - our D gets better when you can land a big man sleeper type like we had when we landed Taylor (from Purdue) - some big dude in the back of the D that makes up for the lack defenders we have on the outside.

I never thought he was the problem. Had good size, which Ray/Cooks did not.

Question for the board
Once a player enters the portal can he return to the team he transferred from if the team has an open slot and would take him back. Has this ever been done before?

I think they can, but would have to sit out a year before being able to do so. The one-time transfer rule was intended to let players go to a new school without sitting out like before. However, there is a caveat -- the player can transfer back and play immediately if the player transferred to a second school and returns to his or her original school either without practicing or competing at the new school, except for one particular 14-day period (for a tryout, etc.).

I wonder if even that will become more lenient as well since coaches can do whatever they want. Sean Miller was able to leave Xavier, go to Arizona, and is now going back to Xavier next year. Of course, he missed a year (this season) in between, but that was because he was involved in the recruiting scandal and was fired by Arizona. You'd think you wouldn't get another job after that, let alone at the original school he left, but here he is going back. I think after those kinds of things, there will be greater pressure for players to have increased freedom on top of the one-time transfer rule and the suddenly highly-used portal we're seeing now.

I think you CAN withdraw from the portal and return to your formal school if, they want you back and if, they have a scholarship left.

I know of two - Dimencio Vaughn left Rider for Ole Miss, came back to Rider this past year.

Same for Kevin Marfo, who left Quinnipiac for Texas A&M and came back this year.

Portal up to nearly 750 players, approximately two per Division I school!

What is that, somewhere around 14% of all DI players across all 358 rosters? That's a pretty sizable group of guys seeking to change teams.

Burgess ends up in the Big South with UNC Asheville. He is from North Carolina.

They were 17-15 last year and played in the championship game in the Big South but lost. They played 2 games in the Cbi beat Stephen Austin then lost to N Colorado. It seems like they have a lot of guards maybe he will come off the bench??

Good luck to Caleb. We will miss his defense. He's only two hours from home now.

Also, several players are leaving Georgetown, which has not had much success under Patrick Ewing. Maybe Jordan Riley of Brentwood would like to come back home? He's not in the portal. Just wishful thinking, of course.

W&M lose their 2nd and third leading scorers. Cochera the rookie of the year two years ago and 2nd leading scorer enters the transfer portal as does Quinn Blair. They also lose freshman Langdon Hatton 6'10 who was getting 14+ minutes a game. Also Northeastern lose Shaquille Walters who was scoring 11 pts. a game.

Not that this will behoove us in any way but the entire LSU roster(scholarships) is now on the transfer portal after the firing of coach Will Wade. Murray State coach has been now hired to replace Wade. I wonder if this has ever happened before? Just nuts. A lot of those players are 4-5 star recruits. https://sports.yahoo.com/lsu-loses-ever ... 25584.html

That is wild! An entire roster, hm, not sure - crazy times there. Of course LSU will be back in short order, but a lot of talent going elsewhere.

Would sure love to hear of some action from HU, I know they are out there, but zero breadcrumbs to even get excited about yet... throw us a bone staff! Hell I'll take a fully unsubstantiated rumor at this point!!! lol

Three of Saint Peter's best sophomores are now in the portal: leading scorer Daryl Banks III, three-point specialist Doug Edert and PG Matthew Lee (Butch's son). If they don't follow their coach to Seton Hall, let's scoop them up!
