True, but since they already have their sponsors lined up, especially Hercules Tires (who has its name on the tourney), you know they'll do all they can to go through with it until they're forced to do otherwise.stuball888 wrote:the CAA tournament is an accident waiting to happen. If two teams in different brackets have even one person test positive when the teams arrive its over No way can they delay the tournament two weeks

I feel bad for Jalen, Tareq, Stafford and Cole Eiber today. This was supposed to be the day for those guys to be honored on the floor before the game, with their framed jerseys and family & friends in attendance, etc., before the game. Sometime in the future, whenever it could be, I'm hoping the school can do something for those four so they still get their moment - and the same to honor last year's CAA championship team, as well as bring back JWF to retire his jersey. Of course, there's some overlap with the first two things, so they could do that as part of a single event if it's easier.
On a totally separate note, while Hofstra didn't play this weekend, they did in my insane dream last night, and I was playing for them! Somehow, I was many, many years younger and we were playing on the road at George Mason, which for some reason, was still in the conference. It was an intense, hard-fought low-scoring rock fight throughout the game that came down to the final seconds. With the score tied, 54-54, Mason tried to pass into the post to this big, plodding forward. I made a steal and although I had possession, and he clearly fouled me (at worst, it should've been a held ball), they called a total B.S. foul on me. The same play happened two previous times in the second half with two other Hofstra players and that Mason forward was called for a foul each time. So, our players started arguing with Mason's and with the refs on the floor. After all was sorted out and calmed down, the Mason forward hit the front end and missed the second of a 1-and-1, so Mason was up 55-54. We had a chance to win but there was a miscommunication between my teammate and I on a pass and my teammate threw the ball out of bounds and we lost 55-54. Right after the game, the arguments continued and there was almost a brawl on the court between the two teams and the same well after the game, outside, after the two teams were dressed and leaving the arena. It all seemed so real. I was still pissed off at Mason's players and the refs a good 10 minutes after I woke up this morning. Bottom line, Hofstra shouldn't have any more postponements or I guess I replace the void with my own game in my crazy dream and it doesn't turn out well.

If they're in opposite brackets, they may just forfeit those teams, advance their respective opponents for that round and continue with the rest of the tourney. It could get messy, and I agree, like much of the regular-season has been, the entire tourney is already in jeopardy of completing.stuball888 wrote:If two teams in different brackets have even one person test positive when the teams arrive its over No way can they delay the tournament two weeks

Why? The entire NBA playoffs were played in a bubble and they got through itstuball888 wrote:the CAA tournament is an accident waiting to happen. All you need are two teams to test positive and the tournament will probably be cancelled.

The CAA tournament is still being played on a college campus Sorry but I dont have much fairh in college students social distancing Do you really think security will be as tight as the NBA
Re: MBB & WBB: 2/20 & 2/21 Postponed
Each team will be quarantined in their own hotel just like the NBA
Re: MBB & WBB: 2/20 & 2/21 Postponed
Just received notice that C and C Chronicles has been canceled for tonight. The note also mentions that NEXT WEEK'S GAMES vs. Elon have also been canceled.
Very disappointing to say the least. No mention if we will play ANY games before the CAA Tourney.

And the dominos begin to fall. With a 14 day quarantine one misstep and the whole CAA tournament could be in jeopardy. Can you imagine if JMU and Northeastern comes up with players or support staff testing positive and they have to forfeit games. They drop out of the tournament and a lesser team wins it and goes to the NCAAs. All that work for nothing.

It would be poetic justice if WE end up going!
Re: MBB & WBB: 2/20 & 2/21 Postponed
For the school, yeah. But not for guys like Desure, Eli, Joe. Nothing would make up for that, unfortunately.HUSID80 wrote:It would be poetic justice if WE end up going!
Maybe it'll just be a tournament of attrition - no games played but HU ends up as the AQ because they're the only team not quarantined in a couple of weeks.

This is like watching a car race and 48 out of 50 cars crash and burn and its a race between the turtles in the back of the pack I guess the proverb is true Slow and easy wins the race

This is all taking on a very negative tone so I'll NOT be the PROGNOSTICATOR OF DOOM!! It certainly appears that the CAA powers that be will more then likely find a way to make it happen. Where there's a will there's a way and for sure it will not be ideal in fact it could be down right unfair but I believe somehow someway it goes down. There will be an abundance of caution approach and maybe no teams will be allowed to play after this weekend. They should take every precaution so nothing jeopardizes the tourney.
Re: MBB & WBB: 2/20 & 2/21 Postponed
This weekend was always going to be the last weekend of the regular season anyway. I agree, the conference will make every effort to go through with the tourney, but I think folks here aren't being negative, just realistic. There is legitimate concern that the tourney could be canceled depending on what happens with teams over the next two weeks. Ultimately, I think they'll get through it because of the number teams and days involved, all in one location, but that's a real risk at this point.triplec2195 wrote:This is all taking on a very negative tone so I'll NOT be the PROGNOSTICATOR OF DOOM!!
