Game #9 Hosting William & Mary 2

Post by HUSID74 »

Incredibly we open as 11.5 favs on ESPN after our five point win yesterday...Guess the guys in the know think we'll hit a few more threes today...Hope its true and we have someone slow done Lowe.

Gotta think Ray brings more than he showed yesterday. No one on Hofstra got close to 20 points, I think Coburn or Ray will change that today.

Yesterday was a weak effort. We got the dub, but it wasnt pretty. Today, I would expect, and hope that Hofstra whoooops these boys. Taking the points.

Ray, Coburn, and Loewe are tied for fourth in the CAA averaging 17.5 points. Elon's Hunter McIntosh plays at Northeastern at 12:00 P.M., and he averages 17.4. UNCW's Jaylen Sims is third, and UNCW won't play because of COVID. In order to pass Sims, Ray and Coburn need to score 34, and Loewe needs to score 30, so it will be hard for any of them to enter the top three today. JMU's Matt Lewis leads with 21.2, and they host Morgan State at 6:00 P.M. which they scheduled to replace their game with Towson.

According to ESPN, Kante is tied for ninth in Division I with 11.1 rebounds.

http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=318618 will have statistics.

I'm going to watch the Giants and watch this game hours later.

Great start, turned a bit sloppy the last few minutes, need to tighten things up now.

While Masic has given us decent play he's not a very good three point shooter and should stick to his mid range game. We have turned the ball over numerous times it seems in the first half with trying to thread the needle too many times by Burgess. B&M trying to score in the paint in this game.

Burgess and Kante are really figuring out the two-man game, love to see it

The 3-pt. shooting is still not there overall(2/10) - although Burgess and Green were each 1/2 - but the defense remains a constant. W&M held to 11/33 from the floor, including 3/15 from 3.

HU up 36-29 at halftime (led 34-24 at the break yesterday).

Kante already has another double-double (11 & 10), his fourth straight and 12 of his career. He entered the game averaging a double-double (13.5 & 11.1).

Burgess (5 ast, 1 to) has 12 assists and 1 turnover so far this weekend.

Not to be contentious just based on what I thought I saw but it looked to me that Burgess turned the ball over a few times in the half?? Am I mistaken re this.

Officially, they only have Burgess with one turnover so far. Kante 3, Masic 2 and Schutte and Cramer with one each for a total of 8 in the first half.

The sloppy play continues so far in the 2nd. Perhaps effects of day 2. SO many unforced TO's and errors. Foul trouble rampant. Some frustration showing.

Kante still a beast. And still looking for one of Ray or Coburn to step up and lead the way in this one.

And will be very interesting to see how Farrelly and this team handle foul trouble - feels like one of the first games HU has had to deal with a lot of it (?)

Another somewhat ugly game with us not hitting threes or FT's. We need to defend the three point line against them because Ayesa and Loewe can shoot the three, tht's all Ayesa shoots.

. My computer stopped, my phone stopped and my Apple TV wasn’t working. Thankfully it’s back. If free I get it, but it’s a paid platform.

Work to do, but a good weekend all around. These Sat-Sun games are not going to be easy, and all in all, Hofstra handled that well facing that situation for the first time this weekend to start CAA play 2-0. Well done and good to build off of as they go forward into next week. At least with that, they'll have the more traditional Thu/Sat schedule even if it'll be tough having to face Northeastern in both of those, with one on the road.
