If it's on ESPN3, they can basically play it whenever and it'll make the air.

Is Chris Selva even trying to make saves? 4 straight goals for Princeton.

Update, now halfway through the third quarter. Our defense is awful, and at times non-existent. We're now down 7-10, and Selva has only made 3 or 4 saves. Princeton's goalie has at least 12.

I can't remember the last time Hofstra had a better save% than their opponents with any kind of consistency. This is awful.

Come on horrible day and playing conditions. Could have gone either way. I thought each team's offenses were equal but our defense was not up to Princeton's.

It seems like every game they play could go either way, and it never goes theirs.

The defense, especially in the third, was terrible at times. Guys just wide open right next to the cage, not knowing when to switch on the man down (and then your goalie flipping out on them), odd man breaks, passes across the top of the crease. Is JAM their defensive coordinator too?

Our next game is this Tuesday against Manhattan . If we dont blow then out something is wrong. Manhattan is 0-3 with losses against Princeton 14-4. Fairfield 14-5 and Stony Brook 19-3.

HORSESH!T SID and you know it - don't give that could've gone either way baloney - thats W E A K - thats every game for goodness sake - no excuses, no passes - THIS MUST STOP, CHANGE MUST BE DEMANDED

0-2 start with one of ST's 'best' teams ... Against unranked teams

Don't need Manhattan game to know something is wrong - that's been proven the last 4 yrs, and now this one.

This program has gone from top 15 power house to completely irrelevant under ST. In complete shambles, so yeah 'c'mon' enough is enough.

Princeton was #20 somewhere, if that helps...

But yeah. It's not like they're playing great and just not getting a bounce. It's bad lacrosse being played by talented players, which is why they're in the games. The kids can play, and they can put the ball in the net. But the mistakes and collapses don't just happen- there's a cause for this, and I think Polito is happy to tell you what it is.

That being said, they didn't play a lead going into the fourth quarter this time!!! There's a positive you can take from the game!

Let's take it easy, this is a good team. The coaching staff isn't at fault for the 0-2 start. There are some teething pains with newer players filling shoes in attack and close defense. I am not making excuses, but the Marquette loss to a degree might be a function of emotions as the team is reeling a bit from the loss of Joe Feriso and the emotions of dedicating the year to him. I think so me kids were a bit too keyed up against Marquette which accounted for the excessive penalties. Marquette is 3-0, not a bad program by the way.

Princeton was played in horrible conditions, not sure any conclusions should be drawn from that game. I think the team showed grit coming back, they never gave up. One bad play by a sophomore on offense squandered a great chance to come back. it happens. Frustrating for sure.

I can see the Pride improving quickly over the next 4 games before CAA play begins. I also think the Pride can make the CAA tournament. From there, it's any teams bet.

Hofstra is still receiving votes in the new USILA poll released today, so even with 2 losses, voters seem to think more highly of the Pride than some of us do.

Polito...nothing happening til the end of the season either way. Fact is we must win the CAA, nothing else matters and we have the talent to do it. Now it must get done. No use in looking at it any other way.

Winning the CAA is always the teams goal, NCAA after that. Too early to make out the CAA. Udel and Umass aren't playing as well as they need to. Towson looks strong. Fairfield will be a threat and Saputo at Drexel has to be taken seriously. To me, it's all about fixing the few issues with the Pride over the next 4 games. All very doable. This is a good team, just hasn't shown yet.

LaxPhan I appreciate your insight, you def bring real knowledge of the game to help people like me 8-)

But do not for one second try to say the performance of the team and these losses are no fault of the coaching staff - that my friend is the biggest bunch of homer BS - this is ENTIRELY on the staff - this team and program have consistently been unprepared and choke when it counts most - um -> COACHING STAFF

Wanna blame the players? Cool, I get that at times, and sometimes players make bonehead plays - guess what, RECRUIT BETTER PLAYERS, and/or COACH THEM UP

And you're right, they haven't shown anything yet, not for the past 4+ yrs

Perhaps you're defending a friend or fam member and that's cool, I would do the same - but pls do not try to excuse them from accountability because that's complete crap. They are 100% responsible for this sh!t show we've been forced to endure under ST's reign.

It sucks. It's an embarrassment to the program. And it needs to change.

Hofstra wins 18-0, in the team's first shutout since 1970. A couple of freshmen scored their first career goals, and Sam Linares had 6 goals and scored his 100th career point. We had a freshman goalie in the 4th quarter.
There's honestly not much to take out of the game since Manhattan is awful, but a win is a win.

To the earlier post, I would hardly use the word embarrassment when talking about the lacrosse team. That's just not accurate.

As far as recruiting better players, well sure, sounds easy. I would argue the current staff has recruited better players. Guys like Selva, Malave, Reilly, Romano, Reicherter are really solid players. Llinares and Clarke are two top recruits recently that chose Hofstra. The University is doing what it can to raise the stature , new medical school, engineering program, Presidential debates, investment in basketball team...just takes time.

Commanding win today by a resurgent Pride team. Manhattan clearly outclassed physically but they played hard and clean. Hats off to them for sportsmanship. Next up, the Hoyas.

I just don't think Long Island college kids are that into football. It isn't part of the ingrained culture at the high school level like it is in other parts of the country like Ohio, Texas, the southeast. I don't have enough history to know, but did HU football pack the Shu week in and week out? It's an expensive sport for sure, and no doubt it would give kids something to do in the fall and maybe heighten interest in HU, but at what cost? Wouldn't the school be better off spending its money on enhancing its academics like the medical school?

Im with HUSID80 on this. SBU has had 3 crowds over 10,000 in a stadium that fits 8,500. Its about promoting the school and sport and having a later starting time. SBU starts their games at 6PM which is perfect for tailgating. Our largest football (9,100) was for UConn with a 9PM friday nite start time. As long as rabinowitz is president football will be here at Hofstra.
