PS...if JAM lands this kid give him another extension...LOLgaryg wrote:Nice to dream Cards but we do not have a shot at this kid...all the biggies will come courting in the springCards wrote:At first I though "how come we're going for another PG with the last scholarship, instead of a big or holding it for a transfer/surprise?" Then I watched the below video of this kid. I like Burgess, but this kid plays like a PG version of JWF. I would take this guy in a heartbeat - real baller with skills, hops, shot, drive and looks like he plays with great confidence. Wonder if JM is not 100% pleased with CB or he just wants more depth at the position or he really wants this guy.Flying Dutchmen wrote:Looks like we offered Noah Hutchins, 6-0 PG from IMG Academy this weekend:

He has other offers from UMass, Penn St, Buffalo, and some others. Hopefully this high school kid is thinking things through - can get PG time, learn from NBA PG, currently uses a 5'11" PG, just had an undersized guard drafted 2nd round - Hey maybe I could do well at HU.

Is Burgess hurt? He hardly plays at all.

Neither did Buie or Justin their freshman seasons.Jojogunne wrote:Is Burgess hurt? He hardly plays at all.

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Justin didn't play much but Buie averaged 15.3 minutes a game a substantial amount of minutes for a freshman. My recollection is that Green got into foul trouble a few times and Buie had to sub in. Burgess needs more playing time but the way Buie is playing how can he get more playing time and if Silverio is on the bench he's coming in for the other guards FIRST. People referred to Burgess as having a lot of "DOG" in him but so far what we have seen is "PUPPY DOG" so hopefully we can get some big leads in some games and get Burgess some playing time and let him work on his "PIT BULL DOG". Come next year he will have very big shoes to fill and he will need minutes this year unless we're bringing in a transfer who can play right away or a H.S phenom(JUCO??)HUSID74 wrote:Neither did Buie or Justin their freshman seasons.Jojogunne wrote:Is Burgess hurt? Re: MBB Recruits 2020
OK I'm impressed - Be amazed if we can get him
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Does a lot of things very well, esp as a Jr... looks setup for a big Sr year - mid-range game only thing I don't see so far. But I don't think these highlights are from IMG yet, looks like he's transferring there for his final year, will be very interested to see how he fairs there in a much higher environment against top national competition. If he balls out there, look out. And yeah, would be a helluva pull at that point!

Had a chance to catch up with staff last game, chatted about recruiting, seems we are all very excited about Mr. Green arriving - here's a great recent snippet on him after a super game in Dec:

Love the kids twitter too, he's ALL Hofstra baby“He’s capable of doing that every night," Ocoee coach John “Sarge” Siers said. “He fell in love with Hofstra, so that’s the right place. But if he waited [rather than sign early] he’d be going to a high-major. He is that good.”

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Thanks for the info Polito - great stuff! Real exciting to think we'll have a legit 4 (the same guy for consecutive years). After TC graduates, it will be interesting to see how Green and Cramer are utilized together. I think Green has the more polished outside game, but heck, we're talking a few years out - anything could happen.Polito wrote:Had a chance to catch up with staff last game, chatted about recruiting, seems we are all very excited about Mr. Green arriving - here's a great recent snippet on him after a super game in Dec:

Did staff say anything about Bethea or what we might do with scholarship 13 ??Polito wrote:Had a chance to catch up with staff last game, chatted about recruiting, seems we are all very excited about Mr. Green arriving - here's a great recent snippet on him after a super game in Dec:

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Somewhat off topic, but has that recruiting connection we had with Europe dried up? For example, in the recent past Hofstra has had a Kieza, Szabo, Sestokas, Urbutis or a Gustys on the roster. Does Hofstra even look that way anymore?

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Schutte is from Holland, and Hughes is from Australia (not European). You are correct that there seems to be a lack of good European players at HU since the days of Coach Pecora. I thought that RG went to prep school in Virginia when Coach Joe was recruiting him.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Good point about Schutte. I deserve a "duh" on that one. On Hughes as well. Hughes was marketed as being the same 3 point shooting big-man now playing for W&M but we haven't seen any of that unfortunately.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Oh, Gustys went to Oak Hill in western Virginia I think.

You guys are forgetting Matija Radovic who was from Belgrade, Serbia. He went to prep school at Monteverde Academy In Florida. He transferred to American International.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Late with the reply, sorry
Staff def happy about Bethea too, big body college ready - did preface that both will need to acclimate, but that’s often the case
Said the same about Cramer - basically need to be patient as he hasn’t played real ball against live opponent comp in 2 yrs - much like Kante
But the talent is there for all 3, we’ll see who takes to the college game the best and the fastest
And the foreign connection wasn’t a school in particular, it was the Ukraine nationality - that most recently lead to recruiting Kupsas out of LuHi - lost him to Weber St of all places, but would’ve had no shot without Gustys and the Ukraine common ground

Hi Polito
I think that Kieza, Urbutis, Gustys and Sestokas were all Lithuanian recruits, not Ukrainian. I have that on confidential info from the whistleblower and Adam Schiff lol.

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
HU offers Tae Hardy JUCO guard from Pearl River Comm Col (via East Carolina).
In 17 mpg, he's averaging 18 ppg (57% FG, 44% 3pt, 86% FT)
Looking JUCO May indicate coach is looking for a little more playing experience to put in the backcourt next season (post DB).
HU also offers Otis Frazier, a 6'5"-6'6" SF (would be a true freshman)
With only one scholarship left, kind of interesting that there are two very different types of offers going out. I can understand the JUCO offer, but the other is a little puzzling (unless coaches see a kid with a lot of raw talent that can redshirt his first year). With Coburn, Truehart, Green, Cramer all the 4 spot (or maybe TC as a 3/4), it doesn't seem like there is an immediate need.

LOL sheez, thank you Captain - embarrassing, I fully know this, brain fart on Lithuania - and said Ukraine so confidently too lol - in my mind I was saying Lithuania
Anyhoo, yes, that is the nationality connection
HU definitely will be looking for some scoring prowess to replace the big guns that will be finishing up.

Polito; Secretary of State Pompeo says neither you nor that NPR reporter could locate the Ukraine on an unmarked map.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Lol maybe so, but I think I could get pretty close considering I’ve been to western Romania, and they share a border
