Very interesting pre-season ranking. Interesting that CoC received more first place votes (18) to HUs 14, but HU ended up with more total votes/points - although it was very close. Its notable that no other team received more than 3-4 first place votes.

2019-20 CAA MEN'S BASKETBALL PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH
Team (1st-place votes) Points
1. Hofstra (14) 331
2. Charleston (18) 323
3. Northeastern (4) 291
4. James Madison (3) 253
5. Delaware (2) 241
6. Towson 194
7. William & Mary 131
8. Drexel 125
9. UNCW 118
10. Elon 48

Newsday wrote an article about St. John's being picked ninth, whereas the day before Hofstra being picked first wasn't worthy of a mention. Nationwide, I wonder how many of the 32 teams picked first in their conference did not get that mentioned in the nearest newspaper to them.

You're beating a dead horse here Evan we've ragged enough on this RAG of a newspaper. I'm loathe to even pay money to have it delivered to my house but my wife likes it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YuoYPGkgJI interviewed Pemberton with the incorrect words that he was on the Preseason Second Team. Before that, they interviewed Mihalich.

Glad - not totally surprised about our preseason ranking - the season is a grind and to be on top requires a lot of work, some luck and precious few injuries.

I am excited - as I am EVERY year - for the season to start. I think we will have a typical JAM team. Smaller then most of our opponents and a lot of players that can score. Because of our scoring potential (and the D I anticipate us playing) I expect I'll be taking the over in a lot of the games!

I personally have recruited 6 friends (that came last year as guests) and are now full season ticketholders. They loved it last year - now its HUBB job to keep them coming back for years to come.

I hope the University backs this team more then in years past -

I really hope the students back this team more (like they did 10-15 years ago) - the students can make the games more fun for us old folk.

* Id love to see us build a real/upbeat PEP BAND - small group of enthusiastic music (or musically inclined) students (or alum - like Iona College has) that can do pre game in the lobby or up in the luxury booths/ during the game at various spots/ post game...they can develop a song that is a "Hofstra Song" (Ie "Sweet Caroline" @ a Red Sox or Penn State FB game; "Jump Around" @ tip off of a UNC BB game)

Can we get a few talented students/alum to do something like this??
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Lu ... ORM=VRDGAR

Or something like this:
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=un ... &FORM=VIRE

* Or how about a post game victory song - (ie "New York, New York after a NYY win, hope to hear that 7 more times this year)

*How about a annual parking lot tailgate - early in the season; afternoon game; university sponsored; pre or post game

A guy can dream.

Less than 3 weeks to opening tip-off :D :D

Anyone been to any practices or have any tidbits to share??

Every year we play some "secret scrimmages". Anyone know who, what, where is taking place this year?

I found a site other than the CAA Preseason Poll that picked us first. https://twitter.com/Sctvman/status/1185915642437865472 says:

"CAA preseason KenPom ranks... HOFSTRA 125, NU 138, CofC 147, Towson 161, JMU 224, Drexel 237, W&M 252, Delaware 257, UNCW 266, Elon 330."

That's an average rank of 213.7. Last season the CAA had an average KenPom rank of 219.7 in a bad season. You can't get conference KenPom ranks without paying.

At today's Media Day JAM indicated team did not look good in scrimmage...he seemed a bit concerned but I guess that's part of being a coach...
