In fairness to Newsday, Hofstra had already locked up 1 seed so winning outright regular season title didn't have a ton of meaning.Pride97 wrote:Another horrible job by Newsday today. Back page is Bryce Harper which isn’t even a NY story. Then they buried the HU story (if you can even call it that) deep in the paper behind the SBU loss.
Simply pathetic.

Yeh but Stony Brook's loss to Vermont deserved more space???? They better do something special on this team sometime this week!HofstraPride1 wrote:In fairness to Newsday, Hofstra had already locked up 1 seed so winning outright regular season title didn't have a ton of meaning.Pride97 wrote:Another horrible job by Newsday today. Regardless of that, Hofstra winning its first outright regular season title in the 18 years they've been in the CAA didn't have meaning and didn't deserve better coverage?HofstraPride1 wrote:In fairness to Newsday, Hofstra had already locked up 1 seed so winning outright regular season title didn't have a ton of meaning.Pride97 wrote:Another horrible job by Newsday today. Great video Wags, thanks for posting. Meanwhile Newsday has posted TWO lengthy feature articles on Stony Brook. One on a kid who was hurt and another on their "brilliant second place finish" in one of the country's worst leagues....incredible!

Re: Media Thread
Now THAT was a fantastic piece - bout damn time Newsday. Very well done, thank you! Doesn't make up for their blatant bias against this fine U and athletic program, but credit where it's due: this is easily one of, if not the, best media pieces on this team and JWF this entire year.

That links to https://nypost.com/2019/03/04/shamorie- ... oops-feat/ where they gave awards to the area teams. They gave us Team of the Year and Coach of the Year. They gave Ponds the Haggerty, and St. John's' Justin Simon the Best Defender. Buie got honorable mention for most improved, but was not one of the five players who got Best Defender or honorable mention for that. We got the last award, which is Reality Bites.ProudofPride wrote: New York Post wrote an awesome article about the team's bus driver. https://nypost.com/2019/03/09/for-hofst ... NYPTwitter

Yup, and it "only" took until win No. 26 and the CAA tourney to get on that page.Pride97 wrote:This can’t be real, can it?

About friggen time! But why is always "hang on" scratch out, etc AMAZING!
Re: Media Thread
It shows that the Knicks are horrible, and other than the Islanders the city and suburbs have four average or below average NBA and NHL teams. Neither St. John's nor Stony Brook played yesterday.
Before today, I wonder if a Hofstra player averaging under 10 points per game had gotten a Newsday back cover for a good reason. Two of the four thieves were averaging under 10, but regardless of whether they got the back cover or not the players weren't on the back cover for a good reason.

I don't know why but I have a vague recollection of Adrian Uter. I'm very familiar with his name but just don't have any images that stick out in my mind. He now plays professionally in a Jamaican league and I guess because his career here was short lived only 2 seasons I just can't remember seeing him play.
