2/12/2019 - 2019 SG Gerald Drumgoole, Jr. (6-5, 195, 2★) committed to Pittsburgh.
2/11/2019 - 2019 SG Lester Quinones (6-5, 200, 4★) has trimmed his list, and removed Hofstra from consideration.

These were off V/C today. Does anyone know if we had any chance in getting Quinones who's is from Brentwood?? Or is this just a token recruit.

They hope to get kids like that on a rebound meaning if he considers transferring for any reason maybe he will consider Hofstra...

I think it might be the same guy. Originally from LI (Brentwood) and went to Upper Room High School in Dix Hills. May have transferred to Florida (IMG) for last year of high school.

Lester Quinones is a 6-5, 180-pound Shooting Guard from Huntington Station, NY. . Same guy 27 offers and would have been a miracle for us to get!!

Yep, same LQ - I noted this young man a couple of years ago, along with his talented teammates from a rising Upper Room program in Dix Hills - head coach is an HU guy, so HU recruited a few of them really hard, some visited, things were positive up until LQ decided to transfer to a bigger name program for more recognition... and he got it lol - some major P5 offers, went to a 4 star, etc.

Oscar Caraballo was the original star that had strong HU ties... LQ and another guard come on as well. There were basically 3-4 kids who had stud potential, and it looked like the program was on it's way to becoming a new prep powerhouse, and it could've been an amazing HU pipeline - kind of fizzled out once Oscar graduated, LQ transferred, etc. Prep programs face similar challenges of kids transferring, can either elevate them to great heights or cause them to come crashing down.

Would've been a game-changer for HU - and certainly didn't expect to land him once he blew up. BUT, honestly the hope for me is after a trip to the dance and performing well, HU can become at least a more reasonable / viable option for some 4 star guys - not the high 4's, but the high 3's / low 4's - would still help HU level up a bit.

I'm excited to see this staff recruit with an NCAAT show under their belts - could be very awesome.

That is a GREAT question lol

I honestly don't know for certain - I'm going to guess maybe qualifying issues (grades, etc.). But I don't even know for sure where he is now - I'm thinking he's prob overseas back in his home country, or something of that nature. Has literally disappeared after being one of the best players in NY in that class.

Shame, was really an intriguing exciting potential player for HU.

Maybe he did have some qualifying issues but he tore up his knee his senior year and maybe this may have cooled a lot of the D1 interest in the young man.

Ah, I don't recall that oddly enough, thanks Captain - if that is the case then you can bet that changed the entire course of his hoops future.

All the best to him, I loved following his prep time and recruitment!

HU offers Yeikson Montero - JUCO SG 6'5"

A little difficult to judge speed and some other qualities/skills from the video, but this guy reminds me of EP. Strong to the hoop, outside game, mid-range game, looks athletic, good size for SG. Averaging 16 ppg and 7 rebs per game. I wonder why he is not on more radar screens of "better" teams - late bloomer??

Here's the answer to the first question Stu (Wright is married to the former Patricia Reilly. The couple has one daughter, Reilly, and two sons, Taylor, Colin).

Any size estimation? We talking PG? Post? My guess is a 1 - wouldn't be surprised if there is another as well.

It was hard to tell height, but it definitely had to be guard. He was probably only a few inches taller than Coach Farrelly, if that. I got to the game early, he was passing balls to the guys during warms ups.
