Final shot was #2 on SportsCenter.

#1 was Zion Williams doing a 360 dunk when no one was literally within 30 ft of him (fastbreak dunk). Remined me of the typical dunk JWF does routinely in warmups. ;)

I guess when you are a guaranteed draft pick on a P5 team you get the headlines.

Actually, I thought the spinning baseline move JWF had in the first half was the best move of the game.

Baseline spin was fantastic, as was the circus move that got negated by refs

Zion is a specimen - dude is *285* for goodness sake, moves and handles like a GUARD

Thanks to everyone for the links. There is a good article about JWF and the Haggerty Award on Daly Dose of Hoops.

Like I said, as HU continues to succeed, REAL outlets will do the proper job over them - newsday has become small time, and made themselves that way over the years. Total waste. Shame cuz they're local and they refuse to properly support HU, but screw 'em, they're a pea in the media HU is already receiving. And if things go as we all hope, it's going to get goooooood. Benefit of location. An awesome benefit. When HU is great. 8-)

And trust me, they will pretend like they've been there all along just to save face. Will be comical and pathetic lol. HU should make them wait and be last for all interview and piece requests :P

They've sure jumped on the St. John's bandwagon though....and how about those two BIG Stony Brook victories over powerhouse UMass Lowell...that deserved a full page of coverage right next to ours...LOL

Newsday's article had a significant length, but it didn't say anything about the score before our 70-61 deficit.

Who even needs Newsday at this point. Looks like the News12 bandwagon is the way to go, with this cool video they posted.

Fun piece! Glad the team is enjoying this. Funny how News Channel 12 is owned by the Dolans, just like Newsday...wonder if they talk to each other.

The Dolans sold Cablevision, including News 12, to Altice two years ago.

Back in the day we used to have beat reporters from Newsday. Eric Bolan and of course the late Marcus Henry. Both were class acts and we had a story on Hofstra almost once a week. Now I’d Hofstra wants to be proactive. This is what I suggest. We should set up a small office for media only. Each reporter can have their own desk. Take these reporters out for a meal once in a while. Smooze a little and we may get more coverage

I got this article off of Yardbarker; Titled: The Hofstra Pride, Hottest Team in the Metropolitan Area

Hofstra University has one of the hottest basketball teams in the Metropolitan Area. The Pride have torn through its recent schedule, winning its last 12 games and drawing media attention .

The Pride currently hold the nation’s third longest active winning streak, behind only undefeated (2) Michigan, and (4) Virginia. Joe Mihalich leads the Pride as head coach, and recently celebrated his 100th win with the Hofstra program. Senior guard Justin Wright-Foreman has acted as a source of scoring dominance, leading the team with 26.7 points per game.

Wright-Foreman hangs around the top of the nation’s leading scorers, and is making a name for himself at 3rd among Division I players in points per game. Wright-Foreman is a Queens native, so the Pride have a hometown hero to watch as they continue to prove they are not a team to be taken lightly.

Speedy Claxton, a former Hofstra player and former NBA guard, serves as an assistant coach for the Pride. Claxton has been a mentor for Wright Foreman, and Foreman told SB Nation, “he still doesn’t even understand, but I’m just grateful to have someone like Speedy in my life.” Speedy was a part of the last Hofstra team to make the NCAA tournament in 2001.

A high-octane offense drives the Pride’s success. They lead the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) at 81.8 points per game, and their prolific scoring ability makes them an exciting team to watch. Hofstra starts four guards to create a fast-paced style that many teams have had trouble keeping up with.

Teams have begun to key in on Wright-Foreman’s success, but Wright-Foreman has no problem dishing the ball off to Eli Pemberton or Desure Buie, both of whom are capable of pushing the pace of the game. Buie also leads the CAA with 2.19 steals per game, and shares a special connection with Wright-Forman.

The Pride use their strong guards to elevate on-ball pressure on the defensive end, forcing opposing guards to take contested, and ill-advised shots. Their excellent defense allows the Pride to get the rebound and push in transition. In this way, they’re not unlike the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, whose fast pace is fueled by a stifling defense and a fast pace.

https://www.newsday.com/sports/college/ ... 1.25976098 is titled "Hofstra embraces its 12-game win streak ahead of UNC-Wilmington game Thursday." It mistakenly says they beat us in the CAA Semifinals last season when it was the Quarterfinals.

The Yardbarker article made a mistake. Claxton graduated in 2000 and didn't play in the 2001 NCAA Tournament.
