Only 5 hours away not bad
Re: CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament
Much better for the northern schools!
Re: CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament
Good move to a neutral court. Besides, Charleston will be underwater by 2020.

Definitely exciting news; makes it possible to go down for just the Saturday and Sunday games.

If the dates are correct in the article, the 2019 Charleston Tournament is listed as March 8-11. I believe this makes the tournament return to the Friday to Monday schedule. In 2018, the tournament was changed to Saturday through Tuesday because of the TV schedule placing the championship game on Tuesday night.

Very excited about DC, and that's great news for this year if true. I'll definitely be going to Charleston in that case. The Shadow wrote:If the dates are correct in the article, the 2019 Charleston Tournament is listed as March 8-11. If they have the dates right, that would be true for 2019 in Charleston, but the dates for the three years in D.C. are all Sat-Tue:The Shadow wrote:If the dates are correct in the article, the 2019 Charleston Tournament is listed as March 8-11. March 7–10, 2020
March 6–9, 2021
March 5–8, 2022
No problem with that at all. The main thing was getting it back to a far more neutral area in or close to Baltimore again, and they did that. So, great news!
4,200 seats is pretty small though. It's about right for the average session attendance over the past few years, but there's still the possibility when a semis game might need a bit more (like 5-6K) or a title game in one or more of those years might need up to 8K or 10K or 11K if the league becomes strong enough with two teams that are good enough to draw that. RIght now, that's not the case, but this is for 2-4 years out, so although the location move is great, the arena size might prove to be a little shortsighted, especially for a league looking to grow under a new commissioner.

Great news! It's been a bummer not being able to attend the tournament in Charleston (distance makes it a flight instead of a road trip, flights make it less flexible for a group to shorten/extend the trip). Baltimore was great for the distance but the arena was in a bad area. Looking forward to this new location.

Fortunately this ends four years from now! So maybe it was the right short term move.Wags wrote: RIght now, that's not the case, but this is for 2-4 years out, so although the location move is great, the arena size might prove to be a little shortsighted, especially for a league looking to grow under a new commissioner.

Agree, only locked in for three years. The main thing was getting it moved back to a much more central location.HofstraHockey wrote:Fortunately this ends four years from now! How many people would be willing to go to Asheville a few days before to hit up some of the breweries there, bus it down to Charleston on Saturday, and fly back from Charleston (hopefully) on Tuesday morning?
