Men's Lax 2017
Solid start yesterday with 11-9 win against a decent Monmouth team that had beaten 16th-ranked Villanova to start the season. Ryan Tierney was very impressive in his debut and Josh Byrne and Brendan Kavanagh looked much improved from last year. Unfortunately many injuries have bitten team including senior faceoff specialist Kris Clark so we got dominated on draws yesterday. Hopefully can keep the momentum going at Princeton this Saturday.

Ryan Tierney earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors after his three goal, one assist performance.

Good thing to see considering I was fed a bunch of nonsense about this young man being a primary reason to keep ST around despite his complete destruction of this once proud historical program - quite frankly, I expect nothing less...and a helluva lot more.
He best be an all-conf player every single year, and POY for at least one.
Other than that, I will make my yearly statement:
Let's see what this staff can do when it actually matters in the CAAT and/or postseason...assuming they qualify for it. This Lax staff should have been put on notice by the admin years ago.

That 5-1 lead was fun while it lasted. Princeton is right back in it now.
Update: We held on for a 10-8 win. That's 2 good teams we've beaten so far.A bunch of different scorers today, and we did much better with face-offs.

It was 6-3 after three quarters. We give up 5 goals in the 4th quarter but we wind up scoring 4 to stave off the Princeton rally. On a side note our former AD jack Hayes Brown team today scores 17 goals against Stony Brook and Stiil; LOST. They gace up an astonishing 25 goals.

Big win for Seth and crew! We came up big on the road against a quality opponent. Our freshman faceoff guy came up big and every time Princeton got within one goal we scored. Excited about this team's potential.

Huge win at a place Hofstra has historically struggled at. The game at Georgetown next week will tell a lot about how this season will go as Hoyas are now 0-3 but have talent.

We also lost to Georgetown last year in what was the beginning of the wheels falling off the season. Would be nice to get this one.
Re: Men's Lax 2017
I am happy Hofstra won today. I am not a lax pro, but I noticed that Princeton wasn't even ranked this year. Usually they are one of the top teams in the country. Did they lose a lot of players?
Regardless, happy to be 2-0

Princeton has fallen off a lot since Bill Tierney left in 2009. Last made NCAAs in 2012. Hofstra has always struggled with Princeton though and last won on road there in 2006.Hofstra wrote:I am happy Hofstra won today. Yeah in recent years Princeton has floated in the 25-30 range. They usually have one or two amazing players--right now its Currier, a few years ago it was Tom Schreiber--but they don't have the depth to be a powerhouse anymore.

Posting this is a screenshot instead of just a link because this is going to change really quickly, but it's cool to look at while it lasts haha. http://www.laxpower.com/update17/binmen/rpi01.php

Good start for the team, now lets crush NJIT and get some redemption at G'Town before we take on the defending national champs!

It was Princeton who beat NJIT 22-8. We beat Princeton so this should be over early

Re: Men's Lax 2017
We beat NJIT 20-4, with a lot of subs getting decent minutes. Great day at the x, winning 23 of 27 face-offs. Byrne with 7 goals, Tierney with 3.
Do we honestly get anything out of playing NJIT? It's not even remotely competitive.

Re: Men's Lax 2017
As you just said, a lot of kids getting valuable experience....will help down the stretch. Also it doesn't hurt overall team confidence.
