Kareem Huggins

Post by stuball888 »

ex hofstra football player is now on SNY playing for the Brooklyn Bolts of the FXFL. It is the NFLs minor league. There are 4 teams. On the brooklyn Bolts is Mike Golic JR who played for his fathers school Notre Dame.

Well the league has zero to do with the NFL, other than wanting to be a part of the NFL, which it will never do. If this league makes it past year 1, I'd be amazed. They couldn't even get white jerseys for one of the teams- it was black versus navy, played under minor league baseball lighting. In a land of college football, minor league football really has no place to fit in.

Yes it has players who played in the NFL and is probably just a notch below the CFL talent wise. Still nice to see a Hofstra alumn trying to get back into the NFL.

HH sorry but do you have anything positive to say about any Hofstra football alum. Huggins did play 5 games for the Bucs before he blew out his knee the next year during an exhibition game. At 28 he is trying to make a comeback. The league is in its first year and having a Brooklyn team allows his friend and family see him locally. BTW- I guess the fast pitch pro league is that much better playing softball games on a minor league baseball field.

The alumni I have no problem with. The league is a joke though. NPF is a bigger disaster. These minor league sports have awful business models- and don't get me started on the women's leagues. Lacrosse has been the only sport to get it right, and in certain instances, some of the second tier soccer teams. I have thought NPF was terrible from the moment I got involved with it, and continue to think it is an absolute disgrace. The players (in all of these leagues) are rarely to be blamed, with the exception of the ones in women's pro soccer. It's great, for both men and women, that they are given an opportunity. But half of the FXFL is league owned, and one team doesn't actually play home games. And the talent level across the board seems very poor.

First year give it time. The only other vehicle for these players are the CFL. Some of these guys dont want to live in canada.I think NFL Europe is no longer available.

for some reason, I'm still holding on to the hope that HU Football will return one day post-Rab

you know what would be totally amazing and perfect world to me? HU basketball blows up, and helps HU land in a major-level conf, which then opens the door yrs from now for HU to do football the BIG way and start an FBS program - I know I know lol and all that, I said 'perfect' world to me!

But really, that's basically what ODU did, more or less. Yes, I know full well the differences between HU and ODU, especially the different fanbases and different love and respect for college football... however it's an example from the CAA.

I think college football is growing in NY...slowly, but the potential is there - what conf would I envision?

vvvv

American (AAC) :D :D

imagine - go with the pipe dream that HU ball was like a VCU, and HU fielded and FUNDED an FBS program - that conf would actually be a SUPER fit, both location and schools - HU used to play a few of them yrs ago in football (UCF, UConn, Temple, USF), Navy joining for football which would be a nice matchup, they could use another Private institution for balance, size is fine as that conf goes from small to huge, and would link the NY gap for them

basketball would be incredible! alas, a man can dream

A football only conference with Towson, Delaware, JMU, W&M, Army, Navy and Hofstra. Add one more to make it fit. Back to Huggins who had a nice game. Hope he follows his dream and makes an NFL teams roster one day. before blowing out his knee he was timed at 4.28 at Bucs camp. I believe it is still on You Tube. Would it be equal to say a conference USA.
