Wow, this staff is on FIRE - always said I wanted to see what Speedy & Co could do with an NCAAT under their belts, this is quick work - and they're bringing in relative quality on top of the speed

I LOVE this PG get - kid can play - assist machine - looks like PG1 to me - pretty much what I said about Lopez, we may see this transpire with this young fella as well or instead

Definitely didn't have us signing a kid from Bishop Gorman on my bingo card - first it's WAY out of our typical recruiting footprint, and second as noted it's certainly powerhouse program - multi time state champion. Looks like this kid played in a state title game before heading to Juco. Gives us another seasoned guard but one that can score, dish, and has quick hands for steals on defense

Staff is putting together a SQUAD

Just a year ago... to say this kid has ability is an understatement - just needs the right system and leadership to unlock it in full

As stated by Polito. Kudos to the staff on the recruiting so far, especially after the volume of transfers suffered. This is the brave new world of college athletics. Not sure i am on board yet.

Interesting landing spots for both of Charlestons centers today... Christian Reeves to Kansas and Chol Machot to Georgetown. Does make you wonder what's left for us when those bigs are going to those level schools. Not downplaying Dunn or Zorg, but still feels to me like we need an impact center

Those Charleston transfers really weaken the Cougars. Have they signed anyone yet?

On another subject, I was just looking at a couple of old videos to see what we might expect from Trey Boyd and Carlos Lopez:

Trey Boyd:

Carlos Lopez:

If nothing else, they can shoot the three!

Charleston not only signed the 7 footer from Villanova we were reportedly interested in, they also grabbed Eli Ellis, a 4 star guard who averaged 8.6 pts in nearly 27 min a night off the bench as a freshman at South Carolina. With their NIL budget Charleston will always restock and look formidable on paper.

That’s right, you mentioned that a few days ago. They also signed that 6-9 forward from Monmouth.

Eli Ellis was a viral High School player. I remember seeing his videos with Overtime Elite. Trash talker, but could ball.

Only 71 players entered the 2026 NBA Draft (the lowest since 2003), down one-third from 106 last year, and way down from a peak of 363 in 2021.

Pay, and they will stay.

Interesting here, report that NCAA president Charlie Baker is confident the 5/5 new age limit rule will pass, but would not be enforced retroactively. That would mean guys like Biggie, Sunday, and the entire UNCW roster besides Wessler are done. Considering how many teams have just about filled their rosters already, esp at the P5 level, thats probably the right decision imo

Northeastern's two best players from last season have landed.... at Uncw and Charleston. Lol. Kermoury to uncw and Xavier Abreu to charleston.

I guess considering we have 2 ex CAA guys can't complain as much anymore. But even within this league the disparity in money is just so stark.

It's one thing to lose your players to bigger schools but to lose your best players within the conference is just way wrong. There needs to be a law against this crap!

They're essentially employees now since they're getting paid, so no court would limit the ability of a player to play at any school they wish, whether or not that new school is within the same conference, just as no court would say a person in a regular job can go only to other competing companies but not to a competing company on the same street.

If the players (f/k/a as Student/Athletes) are now employees - who is the employer? Thought NIL money was paid outside of the school, from Booster Clubs, and other sources, but i am not sure.

Since these kids are signing contracts I'm sure wordage to the effect that they cannot transfer to a school within the conference could be added to a contract. This is done in business all the time. I wonder if anyone has seen what these contracts look like and what a player has to commit to. How are the payments worked out? What if a kid gets hurt or flunks out of school or just stops going to classes. What are the rules??
