Per Jeff Goodman Hofstra gets Justin Moore, 6-3" 185 guard from Loyola Chicago, averaged 10.9 PPG last year. Philly native who played for Drexel in 22-23 and 23-24 seasons. He played one game against us in 23-24 and scored 8 points.

Another good get for the coaching staff and probably our next seasoned starting PG. Almost averaged 4 assists PG last year although only played 22 games. Must be coming off an injury. Solid stats playing for Drexel where he was in double figures often with some 30+ point games. On the all rookie team as a freshman and third team CAA as a sophomore. Only shoots the three at around 30% but I'm sure will look to improve on that stat.

Appreciate the news, this confirms the word we got from HU last night at the meetup - this staff is working hard to build us another champion

Last night I was scouring the Chicago area guards to detective who it might be - saw his name, was curious since he’s already got CAA experience

Great size for a PG - we continue to secure height. Bringing him back east to learn from Phillys own - has ability, is seasoned, can score and dish - only has 1 yr left so I’m sure we are looking for him to step in and help lead right from the start

He has had some injuries though, so we need him to stay healthy

That’s another piece and the first guard - expecting more as there are reportedly lots of visitors coming through - let’s keep it rolling!

Decent rotation piece but he can't shoot

I remember him from Drexel. Thought he was pretty darn good. Maybe Dan 10 the Drexel poster will give us his opinion.

I stand corrected as I see here they were changed to nonprofit status. Still not a fan of that school though and would much prefer he lands at power 4 or Big East program. https://ministrywatch.com/grand-canyon- ... -approved/

Exciting! Another intriguing signing. Absolutely remember Justin Moore from Drexel. From the eye test felt like he was one of the few CAA guards with the handles/talent to keep up with our guards a few years ago. Will admit looking at the stats his shooting numbers are worse than I expected and leave a lot to be desired. But hope would hes starting and in the mix for an all-league player.

Moore seems like a solid addition to our program. Brings height, length and leadership to our backcourt. Knows the CAA. Should become even better under Speedy's tutelage.

Another player with CAA experience.

He is a cousin of Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg:

Another solid get for this team. He averaged around 9 points a game but was only playing 22.5 minutes. Without knowing too much about this team it looks like they have an 8 man or more rotation with everyone having to share minutes. His numbers were better with Charleston where he was playing more minutes. Also a very good FT shooter.

Wow, staff working fast, so this is another good size guard - saw his name yesterday too, stuck out since he was at Charleston

Ok so these are 2 experienced guards with 1 left, who both have played together, and have played (well) in the CAA

Looking at this I believe HU was his first D1 offer in ‘21 so Speedy knows this kid well - also returning east from NJ

Numbers don’t jump off the page for either but as noted they can score, assist, and rebound, have solid size, are older, and bring potential leadership - they’re proven in our conf, and their production can go up with more minutes and Speedys guidance

We’re playing money ball so we are obviously looking for value in potential / high ceilings - not likely to get truly established studs without the big check

Not to mention Lopez is likely going to be our ‘star’ so these are complimentary pieces - that said I would like more firepower, let’s get another strong 3 shooting guard ideally north of 6’4, another scoring wing ideally north of 6’6, and another big 6’10 plus

All also need to highly value defense of course as Speedys bread and butter

Assuming Moore, Tavares, Roberts, Thomas, Blake, Willis and Boyd, plus Lopez…best set of guards in the CAA?

Roberts and Wills are long gone. In fact Roberts it appears just committed to Gardner Webb, who were all of 4-29 last season (1-15 in the Big South)...

Tavares can shoot it, remember him well from Charleston. Love Speedy taking 2 veteran guards from same a10 school who were well above average players in the CAA. Should we be at all concerned that Loyola Chicago was terrible with them last yr though?

Also Polito, interesting you think Lopez coming off missing 2 straight years with injuries is gonna be the lead guard over both these guys?

You sure about Roberts? All indications he’s still at Hofstra. What”s your source? He was linked to Gardner -Webb before coming to Hofstra,

Also Mark 19th we don't have any idea who will be playing for all the other CAA schools as they're in the same boat as us shopping for players. To say that we have the best guys in the CAA. Dude don't you think that's being very premature!!

Sorry may have jumped the gun on Gardner Webb commitment, might have just been an official visit, but he 1000% is in the portal. Straight from the horse's mouth...
