2026 Transfer Portal
Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
So the entire conference has been decimated.
Cannot blame Cruz for taking a very big payday.
He has no choice.
Speedy and the whole league get to play general managers with a huge free agent pool.
No rules for everybody. Overwhelming but fun challenge to draft and train a new team. The job is a bit easier with last season’s success. We are all in the same boat.
Create your next championship team!

Jaeden Robert’s and Victory seem NOT to have entered portal so far.

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
The backcourt losses make Hofstra very attractive to power conference guards who may have been bench riders but who have talent. Speedy attracts hidden gems. Don’t count us out.

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
Ok, so a lot happening in this lightening portal window! For Preston, man, I did not see the west coast coming at all, figured he was a lock to stay east - Oregon would be something, and they have a big PG gap. A lot of high praise for him and Cruz on the Ducks 247 board. Great to see - HU may not have gone on a run, but this program is getting it's name out and it's reputation up.
As for Cruz, as noted he's getting big time calls himself. It sucks to see him go, but I thought about today, and really what else does he need to prove here - he's already done all he can at HU, he's won POY, he made the NCAAT, and with Preston out what else is there for him to stay for - it really does make sense for him to go get what he can while he can.
I hope both land at big time spots and absolutely kill it - will only help Speedy's and HU's reputation, and pay big dividends for us in attracting the future ballers. The portal giveth and the portal taketh away! But we can still win in all of this - again, we aren't competing for national titles, just conference ones - we can absolutely build another winner on the heels of what was just shown by this program.
Good news for us is HU #1 the CAA has been blown up again, ZERO proven talent left, and #2 HU now has a national reputation for developing studs. This will continue to make us a draw for up and coming talent. Speedy's got the eye for it, and we've now got a little buzz, so let's go find our next round of stars.
Very grateful for the time they gave us, and very grateful for the year the staff put together - would've been incredible to run it back, but such is college sports today - I mean even solid P4's and high end mid majors can't keep their players anymore - we're lucky to have even had the 1 year we did with those guys.
But this can and will absolutely propel us to the next crop - of note for anyone who isn't aware, the portal 'closes' on the 21st, but that's just the deadline for players to enter the portal. Players can still visit and commit after that. And with 2k out there so far, there's a TON to sift through and uncover and lots of time still to do so.
I'm oddly excited (and fairly confident) in seeing what we can do here!!

College players not only have friends and family in their ears, but now agents as well in this era. Can't believe a word they say or any rumor mills anymore until they actually finalize their decisions.HUSID74 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 9:00 amSo much for Edmead wanting to stay local.Jojogunne wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 8:33 pm Preston visiting Oregon tomorrow:

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
So sad what it has all boiled down to and all schools have to go shopping unfortunate though while some will shop at Saks others like us have to settle for Macy's so hopefully we can find some bargains. Diamonds in the rough!
Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
LOL very good tc, enjoyed that one! Pretty spot on too!
Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
As long as Hofstra's not shopping at Dollar Tree, they should be okay.
Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
DeCady and Wessler. The only two remaining of sixteen 2025-26 All-CAA honorees who are still in the CAA at the moment:

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
Just so sad to see mid majors completely gutted across the country - the CAA has been decimated every year. Good thing is it keeps the conf winnable every year.
Love to keep DeCady if that holds true - gonna need him to improve and evolve his game though, lot of potential, but he needs to take a couple of steps forward for next season.

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
St John's just signed a 23 yr old Euroleague kid to be their starting PG. If you look at the photo attached to the article here, he's literally being guarded by Shabbaz Napier, who last played for Uconn in 2014, spent 6 yrs in the NBA, and is 34 yrs old. This sport is so broken

G League players are signing with colleges, too. The world is turning upside down.

Re: 2026 Transfer Portal
WE SIGNED TYLER THOMAS' BROTHER!!! There's your starting SF. Love this
https://x.com/KayserHoops/status/2044167924525809940
Thomas, DeCady, and a floor of Zorgvol at center (either he's starting or 2nd C we sign will be better) is a very promising frontcourt. Trust Speedy can find an impact guard or two, plus hopefully a big contribution from the freshman Xavier Blake and the two redshirt guards for depth and all of sudden could have the makings of a team
