Striking while the Iron is Hot

Post by triplec2195 »

Trying to capitalize on our NCAA appearance and all the buzz surrounding our basketball program and the return of key players I received an e-mail from Brendan Varley thanking me as a season ticket holder and adding they would be reaching out soon for re-ups for next year. Now in past years we wouldn't hear from the ticket office until some time in the summer.

Also according to Rick Cole they already have seen a spike in both new ticket sales and donations directly correlating to the success of our basketball program. This is really good marketing strategy along with using a host of other media especially social media. This is the body of the e-mail; Dear Hofstra Season Ticket Holder,

On behalf of Hofstra Men’s Basketball, I wanted to thank you for all your support this past season. It was a great year with the program winning 24 games, including our first CAA Championship since 2020 which led to our first NCAA March Madness game since 2001.

This year’s success wouldn’t have been possible without your commitment, loyalty, and passion. Season ticket holders like yourself are vital to the growth and sustainability of the Hofstra Men’s Basketball program as we look to return to the NCAA Tournament next year.

You will be hearing from us shortly regarding ticket information for next season. We hope to see you back this fall for what looks to be another amazing campaign. Let me know if you have any questions and as always, Go Pride!

Best,

Brendan

This is fine, but to have even more impact, they should do what they did before (if I remember correctly) - pretty sure Mihalich sent a message with his signature and picture (same with Speedy since he's been a head coach, I believe).

They should also give out a tangible reminder of the success that needs to be built on, like some CAA championship merch. I've already seen one Hofstra fan saying specifically, "I wish you could get CAA Champions merch for donating. It needs to come with something for me to donate."

People have to raise their sights on giving, too. $25 or $50 a year isn't going to cut it.

I know merchandise is in the works and in 2020 they sent out hats showing we won the CAA championship. I had the hat customized to add NCAA QUALIFIED. Still something Hofstra has to do to pay homage to that 2020 team. I have a feeling they will look to parlay the season tickets with Pride Club enrollment trying to build a more connected fan to the program. A lot of opportunities here to build the involvement and grab the cash.

Because they didn't strike while the iron was hot (or at least still warm after Covid subsided), they're in weird spot now because they either have to raise a banner for 2020 along with 20206 (which may look a little odd) or raise only a 2026 banner (which would be bad and a big missed opportunity to celebrate 2020).

I hope we get a legit home opener to raise the banner and not a D2-D3 game.

That's another reason for these meet ups and dinners once a month
To keep the good vibes alive and possibly talking to some administrators and coaches to keep the school and their fans engaged

They need to get a banner up there like you said which has been discussed with Rick Cole even to say "QUALIFIED" and should be photos of JAM cutting down the net where all the other pictures are in the downstairs area it's a no brainer.
