This will be the first meeting ever between Hofstra and App State, which is coached by Jim Fox, former Davidson assistant and brother of Hofstra MBB alum Jeff Fox ('91).

Just received this today:

The Hofstra University Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the non-conference portion of its 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday, August 27 at 11 a.m. via a Google Hangout.

During the Google Hangout there will be additional information released about the schedule via the @HofstraPride and @HofstraMBB Twitter accounts.

Following the "Hangout" a traditional press release will be posted on GoHofstra.com, along with an archived version of the Google Hangout. Taking part in the Google Hangout will be Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich, WRHU (88.7 FM) Station Manager Dan Savarino and Associate Director of Athletics for Communications Stephen Gorchov.

My Dad used to tell me a joke with Norfolk State...

Something to the effect of imagining the school as being real straight-laced and having a chant like...

"We don't drink and we don't smoke... Norfolk! Norfolk!"

(of course, that 'o' in the 'folk' part of 'Norfolk' has to be said as a 'u' for the joke to work).

Kudos to Jim. I missed his hire; well deserved. An old friend Levittown.

I could not find the schedule on GoHofstra.com, but here is what I got from one website's report. I added our opponents' RPIs from last year. If we don't go at least 11-2, something will be terribly wrong:

Nov. 14 JACKSONVILLE 282
Nov. 17 @NC State 55
Nov. 21 STONY BROOK 169
Nov. 23 WAGNER 215
Nov. 25 @ South Florida 227
Nov. 28 @ Jackson State 297

Dec. 2 NORFOLK STATE 228
Dec. 7 @ Appalachian State 335
Dec. 10 @ Coppin State 263
Dec. 20 COLUMBIA 127
Dec. 23 LA SALLE 98
Dec. 28 LIU Brooklyn (@Barclays) 300
Dec. 31 @ Central Connecticut State 289

That's some serious travel right the the beginning of January.

Very different looking schedule than in past years. The competition isn't all that great, but the schedule itself seems pretty demanding. Let's see how they do.

Schedule is a joke - not to mention Sunday games during Football Season

I think they just want this team to win some games, no matter who they're against. Four straight under .500 seasons would be really bad. Put up 17 wins or so and then toughen it up next year.

AJ if this team is as good as advertised then Jojo assessment of 11-2 with this schedule is about right.Didnt realize when I first saw it that these teams where in the lower third of RPI in the nation. As far as road trip NC is a long bus ride the florida games (2) is a plane ride plus Appy state is also a long bus ride. central Conn State is a short bus ride. I dont see that a a daunting road schedule. I agree that this schedule is set up to give the team a chance for victories while a chemistry is developed.

If they are flying to NC then it is not a demanding road schedule at all.

Hofstra fans should be fairly happy with the games on NBC SN, especially considering we had no televised home games last year. JMU and Elon both have no games at all on NBC SN, while CofC has 2 (home and away), Drexel has 2 (home and away), W&M has 3 (2 home and 1 away), Northeastern has 3 (2 away and 1 home), we have 2 (both home), Delaware has 1 (away), and Towson has 1 (away). There may be more added later on Comcast Sportsnet/ SNY.
