SBU has received a "significant" commitment from a an $80-million foundation for NIL and other athletic investments:

No amount has been disclosed, but it sounds like a lot.

In addition, starting in 2026-27, SBU athletes will be wearing a uniform patch reflecting another NIL sponsorship:

Newsday reported the uniform patch commitment to be in the "high six figures."

Use up all the jersey real estate for patches. Anywhere you can get NIL money, take it.

I'm surprised it even took this long for the uniform patch.

Been saying for years, wait until NBA and college jerseys are like soccer, with the sponsor showing with a large logo or in large letters, prominently on the front and the team name or logo shown as a very small patch by the shoulder (the NBA already does this in reverse, but just a matter of time before they reverse that). Aesthetically, it'll become unbearable in all sports, at all levels.

Hey good for them, it's an absolute must to survive. No amounts so it's likely not life-changing per say, but I'm sure it's a nice boost. Anything better than nothing. Any huge amount is likely splattered everywhere to help them make noise. Although no one really wants their exact finances to be detailed, every major gift across every program across the country is promoted for the obvious reasons, esp today.

This guy get its. Nascar, F1, and Pro Soccer all do just fine. Not one fan complains about it. And neither will we if it helps us win championships and dance. Already see it all over courts, what's the difference. It can be done tastefully. I'd like to see HU pave the way for once in something instead of being a decade late to every party. Let's push the envelope. Now is the time.
