Will be very interesting to see what they come up with ? I believe we had two recruits that had verbally committed ( one has since decommitted from Hofstra --he is considered one of the top players in NYC ) and the other is a 6-4 3 who is also highly regarded.. am not aware of any others..we have some talented players coming back so if we can blend them in with the newcomers we should be very competitive next season as well...unfortunately we all know that at least a few will transfer out of Hofstra

I think Roberts will leave. Since his career highs of 20 points on 6/9 fg in 30 minutes in the loss at NC A&T, he played 11 minutes the next game, and hasn't played double-digit minutes since then.
I think based on that NC A&T game, the Syracuse game, and a few others, he probably feels like he can do more with a greater opportunity. Hofstra will probably try to sell him on coming for that opportunity here, but I think he showed enough this year that others will be interested, even if it's not in a bigger conference, but at a school where he can start and do more with a lot more minutes. Hope he stays, but I could easily see him moving on and excelling elsewhere.

Although Roberts clearly has upside he can't hang his hat on a few games. He has had other opportunities like last night and hasn't been able to score consistently. He probably should stay and learn from the tutelage of Speedy and also try to become a complete player. No better opportunity then here especially if the cupboards are bare after kids transferring!

I agree about Roberts. I could see him being impatient and thinking he can go excel elsewhere, but it certainly won’t be at a bigger conference.
Also, he went to Hofstra because speedy has a great relationship with his dad and they both played together at Hofstra (I believe) so I’m hopeful his father will put some sense in to him.

Talking about this last game at home we're 85% favorites to win per ESPN and probably will be around a 10 point favorite. Need to play a more complete game then we did against SB and I expect we will be getting Cruz back to doing what he does. Lets gets some momentum heading into the tourney!

There are definitely some spots to fill, but if we get Victory, DeCady, Cruz, and Edmead back, we'll be in a pretty good position heading into the 2026-27 season.
I think Roberts might be a candidate to transfer, but based on what we know, he actually got more playing time than most expected. Even with Cruz and Edmead pretty much locked in, Roberts could be next year team’s version of Jalen Ray—a hot shooter coming off the bench and earning starter minutes. Also, isn’t there some family connection between Roberts and Speedy, or am I mistaken?
I’m also curious about AJ Willis. I thought he would have contributed more, but I did see some flashes from him this season.
As for German, I know he’s listed as a grad student, but there has to be a way to get another year of eligibility. Is it possible for a doctoral player? It’s been a while since he might not be on our roster.

Unless you know something we don't know daHU I think the likelihood that we retain Cruz is in doubt(serious) but I think Edmeade is still in play. I'd like to see Victory back and DeCady and what about a 5th year for Biggie?? IDK what his eligibility status is? Wishful thinking about German though! One way or another I'd imagine we will put a competitive team on the court.

For those that don't know all the seniors have one more year of eligibility left
According to Rick Cole every athlete has five years of eligibility, the five year start from the time they first register at school so long as they haven't been in college more than five years they are eligible for the fifth year

So as far as I know, neither Silas nor Biggie has sat out or redshirted any of the four years they have been in school. So are you saying that both would be eligible for another season at HU???? I know in the last few years the eligibility criteria have changed dramatically, but this would be news to me.

CRUZ D.
NAH
I have no "inside" intel - I am a dreamer - and hope that Cruz stays - but I get it and probably needed to be reminded (by you) this new age of college BB rosters - of chasing greener pastures (greener I guess means money) - and I can't fault him for that - I just hate it - and always seem to be thinking what could've been (if there was roster continuity
GERMAN P
I was kidding about another year
FUTURE
YEP
this staff has proven more than once that we are viable place for a player to rehabilitate their college career and parlay that into some money - after leaving here

I'm not sure that's 100% accurate Stu - I believe it's 4 years of eligibility within a 5 year period (i.e. 5 to play 4). As a general rule though, there are clearly exceptions being made - this nonsense of guys playing college sports for like 7 years has to stop, it's ridiculous lol.
So I believe this is the deal through '27 I believe - at least that's what was stated last fall... and then we can expect reform. Pretty much what I was saying last year, that we have/had about 2 years before the next big shift - and that one could include legislation, we shall see.
I actually dig that promo from HU haha - I can't make this one, traveling, but who doesn't like a good bobble head - hope they get some fans out there for Sr. day - and a very very comfortable win.

In case anyone hasn't seen the video going viral tonight that the team posted... they surprised Sunday by flying his Mom in for senior day. Apparently she hasn't seen him play in 9 years. Very cool, kudos to all involved in making that happen...

DutchPride86, Thanks so much for posting the video. I give the HU athletic program credit in bringing Silas's Mom to see him play Tuesday night. These are the actions of a program that gets the idea of what a family really means. Now let's get four more wins and go to the NCAAT!

Sometimes, it's bigger than basketball. Silas' mom seeing her son play for the first time in nine years on his senior day, and note that at the end of that clip, she's telling him, "Push it, push it!" But let's limit his minutes because they're locked into the 3 seed, and we're afraid that three games over a two-week span before the CAA tournament is too much?

Love the Silas story some things are more important then the actual sport. We're 8.5 point favorites and ESPN is giving us a 85% chance of winning so lets win this one for Silas' MOM!!
