Women are hosting Manhattan on the soccer pitch today. Looks good on ProCollege or whatever that platform is called now.

That's why I always thought if they would have expanded the soccer stadium. It could be a dual use of men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer.

So the women played and lost to #3 Maryland 16-9. Knowing very little about lacrosse the stats seemed somewhat even except for the score. So for people that follow lacrosse is this a moral victory for us or just a beat down by a much better team?

A combination of both
While the shots were pretty, even a lot of them were rushed
Still, we kept the score respectable it wasn't like we lost to them 19 to 1
Team is improved, but we need more balance scoring to be more effective against Stony Brook
Stony Brook play the number four team in the country Northwestern and lost 13 to 12
They let for a good portion of that game
So if you ask me at this point, I think Stony Brook is about 5 to 6 goals better than we are at this point

We beat Wagner 18-1 to improve to 4-4.

Wagner came in 0-4 and leaves 0-5 so we beat up on a team that's awful. You can't take away much from this lopsided win.

We beat Campbell yesterday 13-11 getting 7 goals from Kayleigh Bender. Campbell came in at 9-2 but 0-1 in the conference. We're now 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Where does this put us moving forward in the CAA for those of you that follow lacrosse?

I watched game and was very impressed how Bender stepped up when all the defensive attention was on Mennella. This was massive win in terms of trying reach the four-team CAA Tournament as was last week against Elon since now have tiebreakers on both. If we can win at Towson Saturday will be in very solid shape as they along with Stony Brook are also 2-0 to start league play.

So we take on S.B. tonight who's ranked #6 and we're ranked #43 we both r 5-0 in the conference but this will be a difficult task a miracle if u will to win this game!

The team has been on a nice roll but unfortunately tonight is a reality check as Stony Brook is at whole other level. I would love to be wrong but I have a bad feeling tonight will not be that competitive.

So you're right no shocker here losing 15-4 the score speaks for itself.

I don’t follow this sport much at all, but I have heard that SBU is pretty legit in women’s lax

We receive numerous regular season awards in the CAA with Nikki Mennella getting the CAA attacker of the year award for the second straight year. We play in the semi final game today vs Towson which will be at S.B. We're the 2 seed and they're the 3 seed. I just don't see how anyone can beat S.B. especially playing on their field. SB plays Elon in the other semi.

Very well deserved awards all around. Unfortunately Stony Brook is at another level but hopefully we can still beat Towson today since reaching CAA finals stage would be good step for program. With Mennella coming back for redshirt season hopefully next year we can position ourselves for. possible NCAA Tourney at-large bid if Stony Brook continues to be this unbeatable.

In order for Hofstra to get an at large bid in the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament
We have to make sure that our OOC schedule is not filled with cupcakes
Look at Stoney Brooks OOC schedule this year as opposed to ours
They played five ranked teams. We played one.

Schedule was def not "cupcakes" as Fairfield, Rutgers and Princeton are all in the RPI top 30. If you win two of those and don't lose to Siena to start season we are in mix for at-large this season. I would like to see more quality opponents added for next season though, esp. being Nikki's last season.

Compare that to NorthwesternMaryland Syracuse, PrincetonHopkins, Arizona state
I'm talking about top 20 teams not top 30

top 30 wins is big metric used by NCAA committee. I think 15 to 30 is that sweet spot as those are winnable games whereas top 10 often are not. Either way a tougher schedule is a positive as would bolster our RPI and SOS.

The OOC average RPI for Stoney Brooks opponents was 22.2
The average RPI for Hofstra opponents was 58.4
That's a big difference
According to NCAA Stony Brook had the number five hardest schedule
That is what you would need for A at large bid
