If Speedy does well this year expect Villanova to offer Speedy stupid money to make the move

Villanova almost certainly would offer the job to him but this isn't a typical "mid-major coach has success and takes the next step for more money and a bigger program" situation.

Hofstra is home for him. Being the HC here is a dream come true. He's already made his money in the NBA (not that additional money couldn't be a draw, but not like it is for others), and his daughters are planning to come to Hofstra as students next year. That doesn't mean he absolutely wouldn't leave but this is not the typical situation we usually see for a situation like this. There are a lot of strong personal reasons for him to stay that his counterparts didn't have and don't have (like say, Kelsey using Charleston as the steppingstone to get to Louisville). No one can speak for him, but my hunch is that more than the challenge and money at Villanova or elsewhere, I'm thinking that putting Hofstra MBB on the map as a coach even more than he already did as a player would remain at the top of the list in his decision making process.

For now, let's hope that the opportunity even presents itself because that would mean this season will end up being a good one for Speedy and his team.

What he said. Enough of the Speedy rumors. Let’s enjoy this.
