Men's Soccer 2024

Post by triplec2195 »

Amazing after losing our two best players we're ranked 17th in the pre-season soccer poll. Very impressive! https://gohofstra.com/news/2024/8/6/men ... -poll.aspx

We play a good Fordham team to a 0-0 draw at home last night.

A winning team needs a strong keeper. Looks like we have one:

Disappointing that there is so little interest on these boards in this team!
We are currently ranked #12 in both polls, I believe that's the highest we have ever been ranked.
Last night we took down another natioanlly ranked team, New Hampshire 1-0.
Very impressive!

Team is better thannI thought they would be at this part of the season
Kudos to Richard
While this team is not as strong offensively as teams the past few years I believe we are stronger defensively
The back line is very solid
And our goalie I predict will be better than Wessel Spiel
While only 6ft 2 compared to wessels 6ft7 he is more athletic

What maybe is more impressive is that we lost arguably our two best players from last year Ryan Carmichael and Eliot Goldthorp and we're playing at this level. Amazing.

Its a team sport and Richard has a great system in place
The sum is greater than its parts

New Hampshire entered 2-1-2 and unranked, so they may not be as good as last season.

Elon is also 6-0-1 and 2-0 in the CAA, and we host them on September 28.

So our #12 ranked soccer team loses to Monmouth who came in at 3-0-4. We were undefeated at 6-0-1. If it weren't for Teddy Baker's goal late in the match we would have been shutout. Not good for our 12 ranking!

Monmouth is good...they fought us down to the wire for the Championship last year and clearly had revenge and the home field on their side.
We'll see what happens come playoff time.

We fell from Number 12 to Number 22 after the loss to Monmouth, but we will move up after a 2-1 win hosting Number 14 Elon. Elon entered 7-0-1 with a tie at Wake Forest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRTXnpNLT_M has highlights.
