Think this one will be a sellout? I hope the red T-shirts don't outnumber the blue/gold T-shirts in the stands.

depends on how many come from stony brook. I am looking in the 3,500 to 4,000 range. SBu is not St johns.

Maybe this will help all HU fans. Coming to the game will be many members of Hofstra's first NCAAS Tournament Division One teams, the 75-76 and 76-77 teams. Headlining the group will be Hofstra Hall of Fame and NBA first round draft choice Rich Laurel who has not been back to Hofstra for many years. Joining RIch will be Ken Rood, Bernard Tomlin, Pat Kammerer, Bob Bush, John Makukas, Kevin McDonnell and Sid Davis. Hofstra will recognize these players sometime during the game, a poignant reminder to SBU about our great winning tradition and FOUR NCAA appearances.
Stu, spread the word and let's make sure blue is the dominant color in OUR arena

unfortunately won't make this one, prior engagement in the city with the mrs - but will be glued to gamecast app!
in addition to my thoughts in the ncstate thread, I really don't think SBU has anyone who can match up with Tanksley, Nichols, or Robinson (the athletic wing-forward who can slash, bang inside, or shoot the 3/jumper) - their guy is prob a frosh, so I'm really looking for those 3 to have big games... they really should go nuts, play aggressive and attack all game

I could see SBU playing zone and daring us to beat them with 3s.

I will take that in a heartbeat. That is playing into our strengths.

Interesting, I would think so then, can't imagine he doesn't start if healthy - wonder if he'll see time? Perhaps easing him back in? Or he may be out completely
at this point, I say bring it on, let's get Gustys and Walker in there and do battle - redemption game opportunity for them - Rokas on the scoring side, and Andre on the D/shot altering
Bernardi needs to create his space and get clean looks, Nichols/Robinson should go off, and Green and Tanksley should provide their consistent stat filling efforts and team leadership
would love to see the guards keep Purifoy on lockdown same as NC State did with Bernardi - I think if they can do that, even if Warney has a great game, HU should be able to come away big
I hope they press all game and make SBU work for every single shot - I think SBU can be worn down, so even if they are hitting shots 1st half, HU should be able to get them making mistakes and shooting on tired legs in the 2nd
Statement game, let's get after it shoot well play tight D and run them silly
ROLL TIDE

Crazy crazy ending. Nesmith two ridiculously clutch baskets. Down 7 with three minutes left I thought we were done but Bernardi with the huge 4 pt play.

i got back in time to watch the last 20 seconds. The attendance was 2,726. Hofstra had only 19 rebounds and did not block a shot, but took advantage of 19 Stony Brook turnovers to have over double the points off turnovers, 27 to 13. Hofstra had more assists (10) than turnovers (8) but made only half of their free throws.
Edit:
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400597687 is titled "Hofstra scores late for 66-65 win over Stony Brook."
http://www.gohofstra.com/news/2014/11/2 ... 43427.aspx is Hofstra's recap.

Pretty sloppy first half - never really got in an offensive rythm - several shots way off the mark. Second half was a different team. Guys shot well, moved the ball well, and played with a real competetive fire. It was an exciting finish with Dion coming through in the clutch!
I'm pleasantly surprised with the play of Gustys - I knew he would be a big body down low and would get his share of boards, but I did not know how good a passer he was. The "kid" has a real good feel for where he is on the court and whats going on around him. Sure he still makes freshman mistakes, but give him credit....tonight he played against a very tough accompished player and this is only his third collegiate game. He has a great future at Hofstra!
It was also interesting to see the team spread the floor and then pass it down low to Green of all people. He was eating up the other guards playing one on one like a big. If that was JAMs strategy, it was brilliant.
All in all, an exciting game - keep the games exciting and keep winning and the fnas base will keep growing.
