I expect HU to beat Elon by 10 - I expect this program and it’s SENIOR stars and it’s knowledgeable coaching staff to correct the BS starting here and now. I expect them all to respect the game, EVERY game. I expect to see a winner representative of the talent. I expect to see a team that doesn’t just talk the talk but walks the walk. I expect this staff to do what it takes and put this team in the best position to succeed. I expect salaries and scholarships to be earned, all year long.

IF they have any sense of PRIDE they will come out with a chip and make the statement they SHOULD have made yesterday.

TV game, perhaps they will actually care now and play up to the proper level. Can you tell I am HIGHLY unimpressed at the moment?

You are being rightly called out staff and team, your cred is being questioned, so let’s see your response.

https://static.caasports.com/custompage ... M#team.ind has Elon's statistics. They have used fifteen players, all of whom played at least four games, and ten players have over 100 minutes. Darius Burford leads them with 11.9 points. As usual, they attempt a lot of threes. Burford doesn't attempt many threes, and Michael Graham hasn't attempted any, but the other four of their six most used players combined to have 66 percent of their field goal attempts be threes. Graham shoots .585. They used seven players yesterday, all of whom played at least 21 minutes. Hunter Woods, who averages 7.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, missed his first game, and so did Torrence Watson, who averages 10.7 points. Hunter McIntosh averages 11.4 points, which is down from 15.7 last season. My mom was impressed by him in the 2020 CAA Tournament and wanted us to get him. Graham (11), Woods (8), and Andrew Junkin (4 in 56 minutes) are their only significant shot-blockers. Their top four scorers combined to block 3 shots. Burford (3.1) and McIntosh (2.9) are their assist leaders. Burford (1.8) and Woods (1.5) get steals. Waatson made 45 of 52 free throws (.865), and he has twice as many attempts as their next highest player. They shoot free throws well, but Burford, Graham, and Jerald Gillens-Butker do not.

Cooks, Estrada, Burgess, and Carlos all average at least 8 minutes per team game and at least 0.1 assists per minute. The other nine CAA teams have eight such players combined, and now it's seven because Fah'Mir Ali left Charleston.

Pray tell who will step out on the floor to start for us in this game? As far as we know Ray, Bey and Estrada aren't hurt and neither is Cramer. So that could be 4 of our 5 starters if Dubar can't go. Will we see Zach Cooks? If not who starts I guess again this would have to be Omar who IMO actually helps us on D but if his shots aren't falling who comes in. Again it looks like Carlos who can help this team if he can give us some offense and not get beat off the dribble. Caleb seems to have made his bed here but not giving up on him yet.

Per the CAA

RICHMOND, Va. (December 31, 2021) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced that the Hofstra at Elon men’s basketball game, scheduled for December 31, has been postponed due to CoVID-19 protocols within the Elon program.

A date for the rescheduling of the game will be announced at a later time.

Maybe we caught a break with the postponement - don't know the status of Dubar and Cooks but without either or both we might have been "cooked".

This is so stupid. So sick of the nonsense. What a waste.

Perhaps the silver lining though Z, I’ll take it. The rest of all this is complete and total BS.

If they keep testing and quarantining asymptomatic young college athletes (probably the literally least risk group of people too) this will keep happening. At some point this needs to change but seems like it won't be this season.

Yes, the protocols are everywhere…this is nuts,

I agree that we were probably in trouble with Cooks and Dunbar doubtful.

Also, any Simmons sightings. Did he dress vs William & Mary.

Some of the sting of our loss We’d. Is out as NE lost to the Tribe by one today…crazy,

The point of a quarantine is to keep them from infecting others, their own risk is irrelevant. You will continue to see quarantines until hospitalization rates are under control re: available beds and staffing.

The CDC recently reduced quarantine time due to people's tolerance and need for staffing, and also because the virus has mutated to be much more infectious but cause less severe (but still serious!) disease, with the vaccinated being at much lower risk.

In years to come there won't be these waves of hospitalization/death and associated need for any quarantine as the disease becomes endemic, but we're not there yet.

Hopefully the teams come out of this quickly and we can get back to discussing basketball.
