Anyone know if our walk-on Tommy Ros (6'8'') is on campus or is practicing with the team?

here is some video of him - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-9uDJxfP1U

Not being a leaper or being particularly quick, I don't think we should expect much. That being said, he did come up as a guard/ sm forward and can obviously handle the ball passes decently for a 6'8" guy. His inside game likely wont be much of a weapon against D1 PF and C, but, he does shoot well from all spots on the court (including the FT line). At 6'8" I could see him being a decent spot up shooter (catch and shoot guy) who is difficult to defend from 15 feet and out. If the shots not there, he certainly seems adept enough at passing to dish if off and still create a play. We shall see (I'm trying to be optimistic).

He'll be a great guy to have as an emergency option on the bench - versatile and can actually play - that said, he is is NO WAY someone that this team should or will be using to produce this season

I have to say, this is the first time I find myself less than enamored with the staff - it really feels like they are getting worked over this recruiting cycle...

There is no reason whatsoever to still have 3 open scholly's in mid-June. AT LEAST 3 of the 5 ships should've been locked up well before now. I also get that they're not going to go for guys of no impact, and the 2 they've landed thus far are going to make a major mark, but this team needs another player, particularly a stretch 4 - and that's been clear for months.

It really seems like a fail to me that after a year they only landed 1 guy for the 4 spot. If Djambo is the secret answer, great, get it done and make it known; but if it isn't him, this staff best be getting B U S Y. My biggest fear is JM once again allows this team to go into a season short-handed. It doesn't work - it will not work. HU needs to put together a team with a strong 2-deep at each position of REAL guys ready to play.

FYI, I hate doing this, but it has to be noted that Iona literally just picked up a versatile 6'6 JUCO guy with Philly ties, and the ability to play multiple spots - he can score and rebound and looks to be exactly the kind of guy that HU should bring in to back up Greer.

C'mon HU, let's go JM, why is Iona landing a guy that fits the HU mold at a position of need with a player from your Philly roots?? HU should've been ALL OVER THAT.

If the dude was a bad seed, ok, I get it, and maybe he is. But the point is, this squad has a major need still and we've seen NOTHING in terms of activity to address it. It's very concerning. I hope this new assistant coach hits the ground running and makes his recruiting mark quickly...like right now.

I sent a contact the below depth chart

PG BUIE/POWERS
SG BERNARDI/JWF
SF ROBINSON/PEMBERTON
PF GREER
C GUSTYS/SABETY/WALKER

i wrote we need another at the 4 and the reply I got was, "unless we get someone from Mali" so to me it sounds like Djambo is a real possibility. I think that would suit our needs for next season

One thing is for sure - if we don't get anyone else this year - they are going to have to recruit like hell next year to fill the spots of all the bigs we lose in 2018 (Walker/Sabety/Gustys/Greer/Robinson) with literally nothing behind them on this roster.

I'm less than enamored with depending on a long shot who hasn't played real ball in 2 yrs.

Saw Jeff Hathaway yesterday and I asked him if we added any new players or had the prospect of doing so. He essentially sidestepped my question by saying we are going to surprise a lot of people, that Rok is Huge and not much more. His non answer leads me to believe something is in the works; either Djambo or who knows?

Well one thing I do agree, HU is going to surprise many a folk this upcoming season.

Have to like UNCW and CofC, but outside of that this conf is open for business.

IMO, HU is a top half team, and if it gels right, has the potential to vie for the post-season in some form. And I don't think many are looking at them that way...which is fantastic.

Sent coach a follow-up email on one I sent about 10 days ago without a response regarding roster and any new signings on the horizon.

Hathaway said "we are going to surprise a lot of people"...does he mean the team will over achieve or does he mean the Pride are still going to land a player or two?? Or maybe both?

In an effort to bring up some chatter........Looks like we will once again be hoping we get through the season without any major injuries, especially at the 4 and the 1. Greer is the only true 4 we have. Even with two capable 1's, I would hate to have to rely on either one of them for 40 minutes of ball handling for every game. I think we will be deep enough at the other positions (like the 5) and at the 2/3 where some of the guys we have can play either 2 or 3 in a pinch.

Hate to see two or three scholarships not used. If we are set with our current roster, I would love to see a transfer or two (only ones that are really worth having) on the bench this year burning up their sit-out year. At least they could learn the system working out with the team, and hopefully be key additions to the roster holes we will have to fill in coming years.

My guess is that it is looking good for Djambo and even if he doesn't come I would think they have some kind of backup plans. This is a veteran coaching staff and they will not get caught like they di last season... just sayin'
