Yea seriously about Edmead. I’m thankful for what he did for us and acknowledge the fact that he led us to the tourney which was really rewarding for me and all of us diehard fans.

However, the reality is that unless he puts on about 20-30LBS of muscle then he’s an average AT BEST P5 player. Sorry, but it’s the truth. Same for Cruz, let’s not act like he’s some nba player because he’s not. Edmead and Cruz (right now and Edmead has more potential obviously with age, experience, body build, etc..) both those guys are great mid major players. They’re no where near P5 players. Bench roles maybe. Look at our Past guys that left and transferred (besides Estrada) and Estrada is better than both these guys mentioned.

Again, not taking anything away from these guys because I enjoyed watching them and I’m thankful for what they did for our team, but you see Edmead and Cruz against the Alabama players and its men vs boys. Hell, Cruz’s stock went down big time after our tourney game against Alabama.

Best thing would be for both of these guys to stay here, get paid enough, play a ton, and get the nice environment they have with speedy as their head guy.

Went on 24 seven and victory is not listed on the portal
Triple C, where did you get your information from?

Victory is shown on the verbal commits site as transferred.

And this morning, Jaeden Roberts is in the portal.

Next year will be almost an entirely new team!

Probably wishful thinking, but could Roberts jumping in the portal be a sign that Cruz is actually staying? You would think Roberts would have had a fairly decent role next season if both Cruz and Edmead were gone.

And that's it in a "nutshell" (Although my Spartans have yet to have anyone enter - plus a Top 5 recruiting class)

Zman the Spartans top 8 are probably well compensated. if you lose anybody it would be for playing time at another school.
I think the numbers are off the charts because nobody knows what the options next year might look like.
By the way, if Edmead is recognizing his lack of bulk, he can do some gym work to add some muscle. He is only 19 years old.
I did hear that he is a vegetarian so maybe needs a protein program to bulk up.
The Spartans had a CAA transfer point guard from Northeastern by way of Westbury Long Island a few years ago (Tyson Walker?) who was good and not a moose.
Elliot Cadeaux is about the same height as Edmead with maybe 10 lbs on him. I think Edmead may surprise people at the higher level.

We have 4 players left including two that I'm assuming were injured and didn't play. It's Decady and Cruz against the world that's if Cruz stays??

Someone said this last year; once the season ends, every player is in the portal. I don’t know why it even has to be announced at this point.

Obviously it seems like everyone is gone, but I’m still holding out hope we can keep the band together for one more season, being a winner still has to mean something.

Hopefully Hofstra can compete enough financially to retain some of these guys, we’re not a shark, but we are relatively well positioned in the NCAA landscape, maybe we can find the funding to bring Cruz/Edmead/Victory back one more time.

As for Edmead, I think he will have no problem competing at a higher level. His size may prevent him from dominating like he would in the CAA, but he’s the most complete player in our program since Speedy as a senior, he’s excellent on both sides of the ball.

My only concern for Edmead’s game is that he might give up too much size defensively against the elite major schools who have size on the court at all times. I can’t imagine him struggling much offensively.

Best of luck to all the players of course.

I keep seeing the take on Edmead being too small to defend at the P5 level... Did we watch the same guy this season? Yes, he's small, but he was one of our best perimeter defenders and consistently challenged the bigger/stronger guards he was matched up against. That guy is a dog! Happy for him and his next chapter.

Great points Flying Dutchmen.

This is the new normal we have to expect. Whether we have a great season or a bad one, our entire roster is basically 'in the portal.'

From the player’s perspective, why wouldn’t they?

Our staff has shown they can recruit players, but rebuilding the entire roster every year is tough. It’s even harder to count on bringing in 'good guys' to build a team, like we did this year.

II really don’t like this new system, but that’s just how things are now.

The ONLY Hofstra players officially in the transfer portal as of this morning are Edmead and Williams.
By the way, there is solid reason to be believe that, because of the Trump Executive Order dealing with transfers, Sunday and Patterson can, if they wish, play a fifth year.

Look this executive order is supposed to take effect 8/1 but is not likely to become law because it will be met with challenges eg law suits and there are those that say it will conflict with some state laws etc. It's complicated and although it has merit and needed in the world of college sports where there seem to be "NO RULES" anymore its not likely to change the landscape any time soon. Don't expect Biggie or Sunday to be on the court for us this season. It would be a plus but unlikely!! Read the ARTICLE; https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... igibility/

There are only 4 players not shown as transfers (in the portal) on the verbal commits site.

Cruz
DeCady
Lopez (sat out with knee injury last season)
Boyd (D2 transfer that did not play - redshirt I assume).

As of this morning, thats it!

As of this morning, there are over 1,900 players in the portal

Yup Cards but lets hope we don't see Cruz' name in that portal! We have three starters more then likely out of the four that are still here. I expect that if healthy Lopez will start.

Speedy just posted on Instagram a picture of him with his arm around Cruz Davis with a title "We're just getting started". Does it mean much? Maybe not but figured I'd throw it out there.
