Does Coburn have outside shot as well ??HUSID74 wrote:Saw the team in action last Sunday at the Blue and White scrimmage...they had three referees and went pretty hard. Best player on the court by far is Justin, but that is no surprise. Really impressed with Coburn and his ability to score inside...he is a strong 6-5 and could see him starting ahead of Truehart. Taylor is big, athletic and can score, rebound and block shots around the hoop...could be more aggressive but we'll see...heard a lot of good things about Dwyer but he did not stand out in the scrimmage. Pemberton did not play but I heard he was practicing. Jalen Ray left early for more work on his hamstring...that seems to be the only significant injury right now.
All in all I think we are deeper and more athletic than last year...looking forward to a CAA contending season!
I give to the Pride Club. Guess I don't give enough.HUSID74 wrote:Yup invitation only for donors last SundayJojogunne wrote:There was a Blue and White scrimmage?
It's bad if Trueheart loses playing time because he's worse than last season, but if 80 minutes for the 4 and 5 can be divided 25-20-15-15-5 where even the fifth forward is worthy is playing in most games, that's good. In some recent seasons Hofstra wouldn't have had enough players to scrimmage 5 on 5.daHUPride wrote: Dont love that he could beat out Truehart - I like talent and size! A deeper/more athletic team is always a good thing.
So my take on this as far as Trueheart is concerned just because he could lose playing time doesn't necessarily mean he's worse then last year. Coburn had to sit out last year and maybe he has crazy game. I've heard his name mentioned quite a bit including the coach. You now also have an experienced 4 in the name of Dwyer so this could just be a lot of competition and a numbers game. It's not necessarily an indictment on Trueheart. So if Sagarin has us at 144 and NE at 106 I'll just throw this out Do you really believe that there are 105 teams better then NE and 143 teams better then us. Maybe I'm just being naive or find it hard to swallow but I'd like to be more optimistic then that. Just my gut feeling.EvanJ wrote:It's bad if Trueheart loses playing time because he's worse than last season, but if 80 minutes for the 4 and 5 can be divided 25-20-15-15-5 where even the fifth forward is worthy is playing in most games, that's good. The Sagarin has us 144th. Northeastern leads in 106th, and Drexel is last in 241st. The CAA is the only conference without a team in the Top 100 or Bottom 100. Division I is up to 353 teams, so the Bottom 100 is 254th or worse.
I would like to know the score also for what its worth. Good news for us that Dwyer is producing.HUSID74 wrote:Great article on Dan Dwyer in Newsday online today. Hope it runs in the paper tomorrow. Anyone hear how we did against them overall?
It was in Newsday. Unfortunately the Women's Soccer team wasn't.HUSID74 wrote: Great article on Dan Dwyer in Newsday online today. Hope it runs in the paper tomorrow. Said he had eights points and 10 rebounds in the Pride's scrimmage vs. his old team Penn the other day.
I got the link to the Newsday article on Dwyer from facebook. When I went on-line and accessed the paper that article wasn't in the paper. Maybe I looked at the wrong day??EvanJ wrote:It was in Newsday. Unfortunately the Women's Soccer team wasn't.HUSID74 wrote: Great article on Dan Dwyer in Newsday online today. Totally with you on this. It's much more important to get into the tournament then Justin getting 30 points a game. I'm sure that even he would agree with that.Wags wrote:I'd give up the first prediction for the second prediction turning out a little better, but good press for JWF:

A scoring champ on Long Island
Justin Wright-Foreman was fifth in the nation in scoring last year, averaging 24.4 points per game and he’s only improved. The 6-foot-2 southpaw from Queens will lead the country in scoring, as he improves on his 36 percent shooting from 3-point range. His ultimate goal — an NCAA Tournament berth — will be within reach, but the Pride comes up a few points shy in the CAA title game, extending their March drought that dates back to 2001.
There is no way on earth they lose all 5 conference road games against Towson, Delaware, Drexel, Elon, and JMU.EvanJ wrote:http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_209_Men.html has predicted scores for each game. Other than winning by 1 at Kennesaw State, it predicts the home team to win every game Hofstra plays in.
